Great series, I've watched the first 3, trying to slow down and not charge through it. Lots of really interesting insights, the interviews are very informative. Some of the editing is great, especially a part where there is a replay of an incident where the opponents (is it Leeds?) are about to score a rebound tap-in and no fewer than four Palace players charge in and throw their bodies in front of the goal to repel it; a brilliant moment taken as an example of the team spirit and attitude.

The part where Wilf says the loan back from Man Utd was his idea was amazing, and I found it moving. I hope this is 100% true and not exaggerated.

Not sure I liked Parish and Browett imitating Holloway's west country accent. I thought that was a bit surprising, particularly as I seem to remember Holloway complaining about this when he was a player at QPR. Was it him? Not sure if it was him, but in any case, it's a bit insulting and wrong.

But overall, it's fantastic, thoroughly enjoying it, well done all.

Just finished the last instalment. Reminds me why I love Crystal Palace. I can’t even begrudge Wilf a move as it’s obvious how much he cares. What a club!

I think only one team other than us has ever been promoted through the playoffs without conceding. That was an incredible achievement.

Exactly this. SJ wanted SP to come in with him to save him and the club.

No way would any shrewd businessman put his money into a debt ridden asset being run by the moron who got it into such a mess with his clever Littke sausage lies! Who would partner with that!!?

Would have been a nightmare to deal with and at a much higher price.

The administrators said they would contact SP of the last resort. This is a result of SJ not being able find anyone stupid enough to bail him out of the shite he had put himself in.

SJ now has to make a crust spouting his mouth of about being an Ďexperiencedí ex owner. If he didnít suggest interesting, shocking and intriguing points he wouldnít have a job! Take everything he says with a grain of salt.

If he was as smart and clever as he suggests he would still be in charge having kept us in the top division for the longest spell in our history.

Heís just lucky enough that Goldberg came before him so he can never be accused as the chairman to have financially miss managed us the worst!

Just thinking back to that time... there had been late payments of wages ('cash flow problems' as SJ always liked to call them) and that horrible attempt at a deal with a company that essentially meant we would sell off any Academy graduates at the first opportunity with this company getting a cut in return for some investment. Thankfully that deal was found to be illegal/unworkable, and fell through.

Add to that the fact SJ didn't own the ground - Kelmsley had bought it on his behalf, who he later fell out with - and his continued asking price for the club , and you could just imagine the faces of Parish, Long & co when Jordan was coming to them for investment opportunities. Money down the drain, a rescue operation more for SJ than the club itself. The whole situation was a ticking time bomb and if, having seen the numbers for himself, Parish set admin in motion for personal gain then it wouldn't shock me. Business is cold-blooded and while that sort of decision could understandably leave a sour taste in the mouth for Palace fans (especially those whose pockets were hit by administration) I'm not sure where the club would be had that not happened.
If you believe this is possible, could you please explain how Parish could put Palace in administration?

What was the process?

I have not read the book but I am not sure how Parish could in any way influence, let alone cause, Palace to go into admin.

Was he for example a creditor with significant unpaid debts and liens over the club?

Did have secured loans with terms that weren't being met?

For me there were three organisations that could put us into admin:

1) Simon Jordan
2) Lloyds bank
3) Agilo

I am pretty certain it was the last of the three that triggered the administration as they saw that as the most effecient way of getting their capital back. Jordan hadn't complied with the terms of their onerous agreement and the fact he didn't hand over the cash following the sale of Fonte pushed them over the edge.

Oh and the responsibility for the mess Palace were in is down to one man, and one man alone, Simon Jordan.

Oddly, I like him, but he is a narcissitic liar. Parish doesn't lie, he is far too polished and professional for that, only amateurs lie, the skilled simply avoid having to tell the truth.

I think Jordan blames Parish for the administration as the two were in direct negotiations on doing a deal and Parish advised Jordan to obtain a bridging loan to ease his cash flow whilst negotiations continued. Parish then walked away and only re-emerged once administrators were in control and that loan to Jordan had been called in.

In your opinion..

It may or may not be nonsense. It is certainly something people who were very close at the time have stated.

The truth could likely be somewhere in between.

Hmm.

It's a shame that the discussion about such a fab documentary has degenerated into yet another Parish-bashing thread.

I’ve always liked Parish and think he comes across well in this documentary. He knows his stuff pr wise so you can’t believe everything but he is such a step up from SJ. Instead of pointless ego battles we have incremental progress. I laughed when I saw the ‘winning is everything’ slogan. It’s an example of how out of touch SJ was

I always hated that slogan every time I saw it. Terrible psychology. Puts way too much pressure on the players and negates incremental progress (which might involve say, capturing a valuable point, or improving massively but missing out on the points, etc.).
