To be fair to JRM, given the gap between the era he thinks he lives in and the present day, 50-100 years is quite small

I just think people need a little bit of patience. I would say 25 years before you get some decent politicians that will get the UK (if it still exists) back into understanding that working with people works out better than inward nationalistic thinking.

So far, with Boris and Brexit, you are getting what was expected, a total feck up.

And due to reduced attention spans these days, everyone is getting the whole decade of the 70s condensed into one winter. Dislikes have been disabled.

The IMF have asked if they can come on Jan 1st?

I am not sure why the UK now we have left the EU is more inward looking ?

In the 9 months since we officially left the UK has secured a three way arrangement with Australia and the US to strengthen links in order to protect democracy in the Pacific,. In negotiations to join the Pacific trading organisation as well as the trade partnership in the America's with Canada, US and Mexico.

Agreed around 70 trade deals across the globe admittedly some of those were just mirrors of EU deals but they have still been made.

Developed a Covid vaccine which is sold around the globe at cost rather than profit. The main reason why AZ was slow to be accepted was the jealousy & pure vindictive attitude of some EU leaders who chose to make political mischief over saving lives. If any country is nationalist it's the EU while not yet a "country" as such is moving ever closer to becoming the United States of Europe. Of course many on here would disagree with that observation but of course they laughed at the claim that we were moving towards an EU army. Well it appears if Macaron and other powerful EU "leaders" get their way that day is not far off.

Pushing for CO2 reduction targets to be improved

There is more all achieved against the background of a global pandemic.

Oh and Rolls Royce secured a huge contract to supply the US with aircraft engines in the past few days.

If anything the current government could be accused of pushing to hard to be global while some urgency perhaps should be focussed on issues at home first, but then you cannot please all the people all the time.

Anybody expecting instant benefits across the board overnight on leaving the EU is deluded. It will take time to extract ourselves from the suffocating insular EU bureaucracy. I would suggest review where we are in 10 years only then can a measured consideration on the success of Brexit can be made.

Because those who voted for Brexit have no interest in engaging with the World at large. Brexit is the product of insular, ill-informed nationalism.

The 'wins' you cite could all have been achieved without us leaving the EU, with the exception of the crappy trade deal we have just concluded with Australia.

So half a generation before we can begin to evaluate - that wasn’t on the bus.

And in the middle of fuel queues, food shortages, fishing, meat and poultry in crisis, £20 cut in UC, tax rises etc. the Tories need to blame someone or throw a dead cat on the table...look over there!

If blaming someone from the RHA doesn't work, Labour expect BJ to unleash his dead cat on NI (the only part of the UK so far unaffected by the shortages) by suspending the protocol that BJ signed us up to.

That will endear us to our US and EU friends
