A better move, but still not exactly enough. Kane is the 2nd best striker in the world, for me. We’re talking a Haaland level player to properly replace him, but unfortunately for Spuds, they can’t attract that kind of player with no champions league.

Said exactly the same, Haaland would be perfect for Tottenham

They would never pay the price and he'd never go there.

Well, yes if course he would. He'd be perfect for pretty much every top 6 team in the league, let alone an average spurs

He needs one more goal for his best ever season in terms of goal return. I said at the start of the season that he was still improving, and that he would have his best ever season in terms of end product and I was laughed at. Ok I thought he’d score 15 but he missed long spells/easier games due to injury and COVID. Plus I didn’t realise how much the team had regressed due to continuous underinvestment.

Anyway, another excellent finish. Well done Wilf. Our POTY 2020/21

I'm pretty sure i remember a similar exchange last year, but do you really think he's been our best player this season?

i do yeah, the rest have been pretty average. cahill put in 3-4 good games but has been terrible at times. as did ward and guaita. but to score 10 in this shocking side is a minor miracle!

Last season, Zaha shouldn’t have been the POTY - even if he was my POTY - because he was shunted out to the wing in an appalling team, which made no sense because he wanted to add end product in form of goals.

This season, Wilf has banged in the goals. Star striker for us. Do I think he has had better seasons? Yes in terms of aesthetic appeal, but in terms of end product this has been his best. In a team devoid of much talent, you don’t have to be very good to be POTY. Wilf definitely deserves it. Well done the skipper.

He’s missed 8 league games this season so that’s 10 goals in 24.

A goal every 2.4 games.

Imagine what he could do! If he stopped sulking 90% of the time and had some half decent players around him.

He's played out of position, the negative tactics don't suit him, Yet he's still hit double figures.

But guaita is POTY by miles.

The entire side is built around what Wilf wants....and yes he's done incredibly well to score the goals this season. But he rarely seems to be able to beat anyone these days and he has lost his pace

I agree, I don’t really see any other candidates. Wilf was excellent at the start of the season and I don’t think anyone has put together a run of form like that. People have short memories. If he was hitting that sort of form now he would be a cert for player of the season.

Some people have mentioned Guaita. He’s had a few stand out performances but He’s conceded 54 goals this season (all Hodgson’s fault I know) and his stats have dropped from last season.

Guaita hasn’t been as good as last season. Zaha’s contribution has been fantastic, we’d be truly ****ed without him.

I fully expected to come on here this morning to read a discussion about Wilf taking his shirt off and marching off straight down the tunnel at the final whistle last night.

It was clear that he was pissed off - but was he pissed off about being kicked about again, or pissed off about losing the game, or was there more to it?

Personally I think he was probably thinking, what the f*** am I doing here playing with inadequate players under an inadequate manager.

I really don’t think he’s been that good this season.
Not sure if he beat anyone 1 on 1 last night.
He was out wide, didn’t see him skin a man and whip a cross in
If we can raise funds from his sale I think it’s the right time to depart.

I think that we have become a players graveyard where capable skilful players are put in the wrong position and played with the wrong team mates in the wrong formations to the point where they look mediocre at best. [EDIT] - oh and by the way - that's if they get a game at all. What the f*** must players like Mateta think?

If Wilf has been playing for Leicester last night, he would have ripped us apart.

I feel that Wilf still has a hell of a lot to offer the game, he hasn't fulfilled his potential, he knows that time is running out in his career, and he knows that he is never going to get the recognition or satisfaction or play at the level that he deserves as long as he is playing for the current incarnation of Crystal Palace.
