Yeah .... he's a good keeper at the end of the day.
Does he want back to Spain at the end of the season still ... or is that just paper talk?

No one has ever said he wants to go back to Spain. Bit of a difference from a Spanish club wanting to buy him, to him actively wanting to leave.

People using this as an excuse to knock Guaita need a check up from the neck up.

Some good points raised Darzet, and as you rightly say All keepers make mistakes but unfortunately last night was an error that should have been easily avoided and proved very costly.
But with 30 minutes left to get that goal back and save Guaita's blushes, our powder puff attack failed yet again and this is where our problems lay as our record shows, 12 goals in 16 games at Home is pathetic.

Interesting to read that Valencia wanted Guaita, today i see they have sacked their Manager and DOF walked out so where would that leave Guaita? hopefully staying with us, but only if happy in wanting to do so is important.

Vicente makes a few mistakes in a season, Wayne makes a few mistakes every game. It's natural that he will makes mistakes like even the best strikers miss goal scoring chances occasionally. Vicente deserves criticism for his mistake last night and must take it on the chin, which he will. His mistake probably happened ironically due to lack of sharpness and boredom as he very little to do 2nd half and was mainly a spectator.

Celades was a shocking choice for manager anyway.

Yes it was like the one where Guiata carried the ball into his own net against Sheffield Utd.
Don't keep trying to deflect any mistakes he makes by saying what Hennessey did or would have done. He made a mistake live with it.

.
That's a bit of a nonsense comment really. It was a bad mistake by Guiata that cost us a couple of points, which is disastrous, lets say it as it is. Despite the criticism Hennessey's performance at Liverpool did not cost us any points.

That said, you're right that Guita has been superb for us this season and you only have to look at virtually every match since lockdown was eased to see that all keepers make the occasional blunder.

IMO Guiata is a great keeper and Hennessey is a long way behind him but is nonetheless a pretty good second choice that we would have difficulty in improving upon.

Whilst he knows he could have saved it I would say this concession was barely a "mistake" by VG. A GK cant save everything

The problem on here is that that type of verdict seems to apply differently to who it is that is in goal.

I would say it was a mistake whoever was in goal and as it was Guaita, but it wasn't a howler. It seems more of a surprise because VG doesn't make too many. I don't think he is perfect - no keeper is or can be.

To repeat - VG is better than WH but VG isn't without weakness but is in the running for one of our best so far (I mean going back as far as JJ).

A lot is said about the defence's confidence in VG being far greater than in WH and overall I would suspect that is true (as an all round keeper) but I don't think the defence can be that confident in playing the ball back to VG on the ground because he himself looks very obviously uncomfortable and doesn't kick a moving ball well under pressure. It's a big part of the game now and he needs to keep working on it. I think there has been improvement since his arrival but way to go still. Jules wasn't great with the ball at his feet either.

TBH just watching I get nervous when a difficult ball is played back to VG and a striker is chasing after it as he takes time to get it away and they get very close. WH is far from Ederson-like but he can kick with both feet and gets distance but has well documented problems in other areas.

VG's handling and shot stopping make the difference for us though and they are right up there.

As segue I have rarely seen Pope have a bad game. I am sure he has them but whenever I have seen him he always plays extremely well and when a Palace striker is shaping up against him to shoot I never think it's going in. Doesn't happen often though

Guita is a classy goal keeper and a class professional. You can tell that he takes full blame when he makes a rare mistake and it effects him massively. You can see that he is going to try even harder to make amends. The same can not be said for Wayne who just seems to crack on the same as before. Doesn't even seem to ever get fired up.

You are of course quite right they can't save everything and I think it is fair to say, just looking at his reaction, that he was not pleased with himself. I would also think it fair to say that Guaita is the better keeper, but what pisses me off is that Hennessy gets slagged off when he is not even playing. I am not a Hennessy fan,but I am a Palace fan and don't like it when our players get slagged off unfairly.
