Oh, undoubtedly we are going to be bowled out for 160 in at least one of these one-dayers! And likely get tonked by 10 wickets in another one, but this is a strong NZ side, a series win would be a big success after the monumental F-up of a World Cup

Matt Prior retires due to his Achilles's injury, averaged just over 40 so England's best ever Batsman/Keeper?

On a different note how many test runs did keeping wicket cost Alec Stewart? For those old enough to remember Stewart had a superb record opening the batting, his 190 V Wasim,Waqar & Mushtaq Ahmed at Edgbaston in 1992 aswell as his hundred in both innings V W.Indies Walsh,Ambrose ect at Bridgetown,Barbados in 1994 showed he could score big runs against the best bowling attacks of the time,as a big Jack Russell fan at the time I was gutted he was in & out of the side during the 90's due to Stewarts superior batting, even when keeping, anyhow I bet KP has got a wry smile on his face now.

Prior another one to fall victim of the excessive test cricket played between 2008-2011.
Can see this being Jimmys last year for England.

I must admit I liked Prior, 'big cheese' or not. It's a shame his career has petered out in this way, loss of form, dropped and injured. Until his last few tests when he was clearly struggling for fitness he was averaging not far off 45 which is phenomenal for a number 7, almost Gilchristesque. Some people saw him as a selfish batter but I always thought the opposite, he was a team player in that respect even if he didn't get on with Pietersen.

I was there too and was similarly impressed.
He had plenty of pace and bounce, so hopefully a sign that he has sorted out his run-up

Unlike his colleagues.

Steve Smith can bat a bit, going alright at 3.

I think Jimmy sticks around until the next Ashes or until England don't want him anymore. He's not really necessary for one day cricket so should be given time away for that.

Botham, irritatingly called 'Sir Ian' throughout an interview with Tim Abrahams, reckons it's 'all stations go'.

And batting first too

Could be interesting, they're batting in the humidity so I can see the ball doing a bit early on.

Well they are pummelling poor Jordan (with a bit of luck thrown in).

Can any Surrey fans comment on whether they think he is good enough for England? I am yet to be convinced.
