KG's presence in the side is clear for all to see when you look at the fact that him leaving last year for the African Cup of Nations tied in with the start of our decline. No doubt it continued long after KG was back, but it was easy to see what was happening without him there in January.

This part interested me the most Leverkusen.

It was a slightly different story in today's Sun - they claim that West Brom, Forest and Leicester are after him.

Jedinaks passing has been really good this season, seems to have really improved that part of his game. KGs passing has been a lot lot worse, would be interesting to see his pass success rate this season compared to the rest of the team.

Interesting, two seconds of searching came up with this...

Interesting to see Jedinak in the top 20 player ratings.

Interesting that if you filter by passing % we don't have anyone in the top 160.. Gabbidon is 163 with 80%.. Puncheon and KG are next. That says something!

I would be disappointed to lose KG but on the other hand I would love to see O'Keefe given an extended run in the side. Long term I think he could be a better player especially going forward.

S O'K's pass completion % is 90.5, albeit from limited time on the pitch.

KG is a real marmite player. I thought he was superb against Cardiff and we seem to be a tougher team when he plays, but many times he looks awful. Logically we should be looking to replace him with a better player but you just get that feeling that he is one of those "more than the sum of the parts" type player who we will miss when he's gone.

Still, people said that about Tom Soares...

It may say something, but it doesn't say anything more that statistical gossip. Passing percentage is a largely meaningless statistic because it takes no account of formation, opposition, team playing style, direction of pass, distance of pass, where the pass was made and whether the pass led to a shot. A couple of central defenders can spend all game passing to their back four colleagues, get a 100% pass statistic yet not contribute to a goal.

Yet if one only one long punt up field leads to a goal that player could have a wretched pass statistic and a huge key pass statistic, which is much more valuable, although all statistics need to be taken in context with other statistics.

Percentage passing accuracy is a statistic that is bandied about in the media because it is easy to measure and not monetised. That's all it is. These kind of tables are mostly pointless, especially if accompanied with a subjective match rating.

Coming back to KG, we always look stronger with him next to Jedi, although if the team continues to evolve there will eventually come a time when he is surplus to requirements because a better player will become available.

Well if we are going to be wheeler-dealing in January, there may be out-goings as well as in-comings.

Yesterday showed what a more composed midfielder can do to our side, hopefully means no more KG starting every week and we buy a better player

A marmite player - wonderful description! He really does divide opinion.

Without getting into the whole pro or anti discussion I would just say how pleased I was with O'Keefe when he came on against Chelsea to replace KG. The fact that Pulis always seems to have SOK on the bench shows how he figures in Pulis's plans. Yes he is young and inexperienced and will never be a silky skilled player but for a bloke who's only previous experience was Southend Utd he is coming on leaps and bounds and I am not sure the team is that much weaker when he replaces KG.
