**** me that was tense. Didn't feel quite right being that far ahead at half time and second half felt a lot more like it terms of supporting Wales and a bit too early for a stiff drink.

Delighted to get over line though. I might be wrong but this feels like 1st win against a major southern hemisphere team at a World Cup for a long time (professional era even?) and a big deal pyschologically.

Rugby WC officials staying at my hotel in Tokyo, they seem to be under a lot of criticism in media, but generally a good bunch though not freebie tickets yet!

Wasn't sure about that red card until the last angle showed him looking Farrell in the eyes. Deliberate and definitely the right decision.

The game plan was to get them knackered them even before the sending off

I dunno about the red. Was it high? yes, was that because Farrell was not at full height? probably... was it intentional? Probably not.
Just think a sending off for that type of heat of the moment misjudgement in the tackle should be a sin bin offense rather than a straight red.
Its fine lines. But that's what the TMO is for.

I'm not sure where I stand on the debate about this.I don't watch any club rugby so I don't know what the game is like outside internationals. The red card today is a red card by the law and it's a fairly dangerous(not a huge amount of force but hits the head) tackle. The problem with a red card in rugby is it gives 1 team such a huge advantage that it ruins the game, one of the few potentially brilliant games in the pool stages of the world cup.Surely there is another way to maintain the safety of players while keeping the sport entertaining? One of the best games potentially this early in the world cup was effectively over after 15 minutes.

That was in my mind when thinking about a sin bin rather than a full red. Especially given the actual tackle was not one of the worst I have seen...

I for one did not think that was a bad tackle, and it was harsh to be given red. Farrell was trying to avoid being tackled....even Nigel initially called it fair tackle, till the TMO got involved. I felt for the bloke

Not as enjoyable as the France Argentina game, but a decent day out. Felt it was a yellow, and the red basically ruined the game and killed any atmosphere in the ground. Most enjoyable part of the game was some dickhead in a full England kit trying to get a Mexican wave going - failed several times and had to go to another part of the ground to fail again. Managed to cut himself above the eye, which made it worthwhile.

Got the bus back to the easiest station for us and the Japan game was being shown on a big screen in front of the station. Jumped on a train at half time and saw the 2nd half in a local bar. The shochu was flowing nicely. Nice day out.

Haha, I saw that guy (if it was the one behind the try line where we were attacking second half). I didn't see him cut his eye though. TBH the Mexican wave worked until it got to the groups of Argies.

You must have been sitting near me. We tried to get Jerusalem going in the second half, but not many people joined in ....

We got back to Shinjuku and watched the Japan game in an iizakaya in west Shinjuku. Unfortunately that is my last game and I fly home on Thursday.
