Fabulous footage but HLTCO edges it for me.

Great memories of a fab win at yet another top club in that wonderful Cup run, but oh boy weren't their fans SCUM of the earth.

Just got me thinking about that run, having visited all of those games starting with Millwall, Scarborough, Sunderland, Leeds and Chelsea not sure if it was in that order as it was many moon's ago, great days away but boy you had to look over your shoulder at all of those grounds for their scum fans, except at little Scarborough.
And then those thugs of Southampton on the Pitch finally brought it all to a sad end for that wonderful Div THREE club CPFC, memories never to be forgotten.

Yep. We had it rough that year.

Scarborough was at least a bit funny though. They had heard this horde of South Londoners was coming up, so they hired extra fencing from Scarborough Zoo to keep us in . We could only laugh at the local kids dressed in Bay City Roller clobber giving us the signs.

At Seaham Station afterwards we were singing ďMaybe itís because Iím a LondonerĒ whilst the police held back hordes of angry locals.

Don't forget we played Walton and Hersham in round one (the only game I missed). Scraped by with a 1-0 win - Oh how it could have all gone wrong!

As for Scarborough, I think there was more police than locals, but as davech says, they were still acting the hard boys and giving albeit verbal abuse on the frog march back to the station.

Was also sitting in their new 3 tier stand. Didnít we play Tooting and Mitcham midweek in the 1st or 2nd round?

The terraces were so packed I was basically standing on one leg. I remember Peter Taylor lining up to take the free kick. Alan Whittle stood over the ball and for the only time in my life, I KNEW we were going to score Usually when we take free kicks I get ready to duck. For all the talk of “who are our rivals ?” Brighton, Millwall, Charlton etc. Chelsea are the team that usually overshadow us. But on that day we overshadowed them.

Leeds, Chelsea then Sunderland. I recall walking past the Shed after the game and passing a TV shop. The draw had already been made and I couldn’t believe we were away again and as far away as Sunderland.

We knew then there was a chance of another battering on the terraces.

And Millwall too. The hate on the Leeds fans as we left the South Stand after that win came as a shock to a young school boy like myself who had persuaded my dad to let me go on my own by coach.

Walton and Hersham:

In July 2019, the club was taken over by a group of students, who claim to be the youngest owners in world football

Damn i forgot about playing those giants WH like yourself i also gave that game a miss strange as it was like a local game as i lived in Wimbledon yet stayed away, but turned up for games UP NORTH. Could it be i was expecting us to get knocked out in the First Round, but nice surprises lay ahead.

Was that the cup run when Swindles scored against Leeds and the commentator said "It had to happen" ?
