Left back is certainly not a priority position for us, but I do think we could do with some back up/competition.
The big issue for me, isn't just if Mitchell gets injured, but if he completely loses form. We can't just suddenly say Schlupp is now left back, unless he is regularly training there.

I'd not be completely adverse to finding an experienced left back who might be on a free who can come in if Mitchell does lose form.
You say left back isn't a priority position for us but then your post seems to argue that it is.

I think it is.

You forget the injured one has never played in the PL and hasn't played for close to 2 years.

But I still think we're better set there than left back. Kelly or Tomkins could fill there if needed.

I didn't say they were great. But we have Ward - a very experienced pro who can defend well. He may not be able to pass brilliantly but if there's a bit more movement in front him, it may help. Clyne is a better option than Ward IMO, so hopefully he recovers from Covid quickly. Still relatively quick, can defend and pass. Ferguson still to come and he has a lot of potential.

The other positions we purchased players in were far more important than this and we can't buy players for every single position in one window.

We’ve signed players for the spine of the team. I think that’s the right priority. It has long been our main problem.

Well, we're obviously not worried about guys getting injuries. I just feel Mitchell is the present and future solution, whereas Clyne and Ward are present solutions at best. Ferguson, who really knows. Is he even training yet?

Well summed up.

The spine being (in my view anyway):

Andersen/Guehi
Gallagher/Hughes
Edouard

Creat goal by PvA but it looks as though he was caught dawdling up the pitch when they broke down the right for their goal.

Not unusual for him!

Anyway isn't he leaving Spurs because he thinks he deserves to be at a bigger club like PSG?

Makes you wonder what the squad would look like right now had JT not sunk £90m in to the club. Welcome to CPFC Saido Berahino.

The £90m would have certainly helped to manage cashflow. However, given the wage bill drop due to the out of contracts players, I think we would still have done most of this business anyway. The main potential difference would have been the club would likely needing to do some borrowing against future earnings to finance the deals that required large payments early.

My only real disappointment from this transfer window is Alan Nixon. He called Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi “the Wee Jap,” and instead of apologising or even just deleting the tweet and pretending it never happened, he’s doubling down and blocking everyone that calls him out for it.
