Him and Wilf either side of CB or Edouard is quite exciting.
That is precisely how i saw his introduction, i also liked what i saw in those few minutes he seems to have a swagger to his play, yes he looked impressive and it bodes well for the future. But i can see Vieira showing patience (as should our fans) in the weeks ahead in how he uses Olise and most likely off the bench and rightly so, as we need to introduce him gradually to feel his way with say 10 minutes at Anfield and then 15/20 minutes against Brighton, then see how it goes.

Looking at the highlights we really did look impressive, and that against a club that has spent a lot of time and money building for their future development. Our performance had excellent movement and build up play, and the finishing was the icing on the cake.

Then the other midfielders are one of Hughes/Kouyate/Luka/Macca and Gallagher - that's a formation not too dissimilar to quite a few games under Roy, where one of Macca/Jairo and Luka/Kouyate played to the right of Eze.

Mind you we did get a fair few indifferent performances with that type of formation so it will be interesting to see how much that was down to coaching and how much down to the system/players if we do end up playing like that.

What makes you think we will have little possession against the top 6 ? We’re not going to be parking the bus anymore look at the Spuds game. Ok we did first half against Chelski but that’s because that way of playing was still ingrained from Roy’s coaching and takes time to readjust. PV has a winning mentality so expect us to take the initiative in games moving forward

Nuno's Wolves teams averaged around 60% possession and we got 62% against Spurs on Saturday so it looks probable. But only based on one game...

60% against us? Pretty sure Wolves never averaged above 50% for any of the seasons Nuno was there.

I thought I'd saw articles on The Athletic and other websites saying that bar the top 6 sides where it was much lower that's how they played.

I thought Nuno's teams were known for less possession football.

Man City, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool are way ahead of the rest this season. It would be a major shock if they don't finish top 4 this season. You can see the season odds for a top 4 finish here: To view the link you have to Register or Login

I believe PV will deploy a bit of different tactics against the top 4, especially for the away games. I think only Leeds are naive enough not to, and they got smacked by Liverpool, leaving way too much space at the back, so even they might change a little for their games against the top 4 teams going forward.

I think, and PV has said that he’s going to approach every game with the intention to win it. He’s looking to play out from the back moving the ball quickly with bodies in the box. He won’t be looking to sit back and counter

Once this team gels properly I think we will surprise a lot of people

We'll see. I would not be surprised to see the 4-4-2 again, as against Chelsea, trying to keep things tighter in the middle.

442 isn't the way to go to keep it tight in the middle.

How Vieira fares in these types of games will be important. Often they’re written off but, actually, if you look at all the managers who’ve kept us up until now - they’ve got results against the top 6. Roy has numerous examples. Big Sam did it (Chelsea away). Even Pardew & Pulis did it. And if you look at all teams that stay up, you’ll see examples of them getting results against top 6 sides.

Personally I wouldn’t be averse to Benteke & Ayew playing in this game. Of course everyone will want Olise & Edouard but in games like this, having the engine of Ayew and Benteke as an outlet will be big tools.

Maybe we will see 4-4-2 again. But against Chelsea we actually were better when we went to a back 3.

How does 4-4-2 keep things tighter?? Take a man out of midfield??

4-1-4-1 would be keeping it tight.

We've just comfortably beaten a top 6 team

I don't think they have finished outside the 6 for at least a decade and they were top of the league when they played us. Sure they had a few players missing but I think its definitely fair to call them a top 6 side.

They were missing three players from their previous starting lineup Son, Sanchez and Bergwijn. £22m new signing Royal was in for Sanchez, £25m Lucas Moura was in for Bergwijn. So not much difference there. I think the main negative for Spurs was no Son and so they went more defensive and brought in Winks (who apparently they value at £40m). I'd say us missing Eze is the equivalent of them missing Son.

You mean aside from 4 months ago when they finished outside the top 6 The team that played Saturday was not the team they have had the last decade either.

Of course their overall squad is better than the 13 that played Saturday, but that side Saturday is not a top 6 side is it? The defence of Reguillon, Rodon, Tanganga and Emerson, with Winks, Skipp and Hojberg ahead of them is not screaming out top 6.

I'd be mildly surprised if they actually finish 6th with their best side, let alone with Saturday's side.
