When buying my ST I don't remember it saying you had to own or buy a smartphone. This is going to go down really well. Maybe they have a stack of phones they are going to supply.

What if you don't have a Smartphone?

Unbelievable after selling the season tickets and this announcement so late in the day.

What is wrong with the existing season ticket cards?!

I sympathise massively with those fans without smartphones.

I only got my first smartphone at Christmas (really) because I could see the way things were going with scanning in at pubs, and smartphone tickets for the Euros. (and now the nhs covid pass)

I must say that even though I will be able to manage, I'll no doubt be paranoid about the battery level LOL

It cannot be league rules because I have received printed tickets for Chelsea and West Ham away.

There has to be a satisfactory (and not inconvenient) solution for fans without smartphones.

A significant % of over 65s don't own one.

If only we had a fit for purpose Supporters Trust on the case making the argument on behalf of such fans

Tried an e-ticket on my smartphone for the Charlton friendly. The reader didn’t pick it up, and I was told I had to go to the box office to get a printed paper ticket. This will be a complete shambles with huge queues and people missing kick off

For the first match at Selhurst Park this season (v Brentford, 21 August), each Season Ticket holder will be emailed a ticket, and you will receive it by the end of Monday night, 16 August.

Season Ticket holders can choose to download the ticket straight to their Apple Wallet (iPhone users) / Google Pay (Android users), or alternatively show a pdf attachment with a barcode at the turnstile. The pdf can also be printed if preferred, but for supporters doing so - please use the fold lines as shown and keep the ticket dry.

Just 53% of over 65's have a smartphone

Looking at the typical age profile of our longstanding fans in the Main Stand, this is potential suicide by the club at a time when they need to retain as many fans as possible.

Imagine the stress and queues at the Family Stand turnstiles as well, where a parent has multiple tickets on their one phone, because the kids are too young to have smartphones each.

This is just about the most ridiculous decision in the history of the club. Proof if ever that they simply don't give a **** about the fans.
How is this being communicated to OAPs, those not regularly online, fans with learning difficulties etc?
How to alienate a chunk of your fan base in one easy step, it's disgusting.

There will be a solution for fans without smartphones. There has to be. I would pay very little attention to this typically diabolical communication from the club and wait for further info after the Brentford game.

The 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph might as well have been written in hieroglyphs for all the sense I could make of it.

Spurs doing it as well. Seems to be a bit more organized than our shower.

There are still a lot of the older supporters that have not got computers either. What do they do. ? I can see big problems at the turnstiles next weekend.

Spurs version says you can only download one ticket to each smartphone.

Obviously football clubs employ geniuses to organise their ticketing infrastructure. ******* chimpanzees could do a better job.

This is indirect discrimination, pure and simple. The Premier League had better reverse course or lawyer up.

Hope they're opening the turnstiles at 9am 'cos this is going to be a ****** shambles.

My 70-year-old mum has a smartphone but wouldn't have the faintest idea how to download a ticket to an e-wallet, let alone find it on a matchday. I'm not sure I even know to be honest.

Phasing it in would be giving people the option of using their card, printing a ticket or showing it on their smartphone for at least one or two seasons. Not completely changing the whole process overnight with a week's notice.

Absolute morons.

Why is it always a last minute chaotic ******* mess every single season. Who is in charge of ticketing? I’d love to know why they think this is a good idea.

Get ready to miss the first 10m of the game because of confusion, delays and huge queues.
