Only basing this on a friends’ personal experience but this is not solely about Covid.

The beds are filling up because a lot of the patients are being admitted for emergencies whereas without Covid they would have had operations before getting to that point.

The extra handful of patients in the beds because of Covid mean there isn’t the excess capacity to deal with this uptake.

Yes, i agree that there will be more emergency admissions because of delayed ops. Current london critical care capacity is Covid occupied 61 beds (5%) , non covid occupied 739 (64%), unoccupied 357 (31%).

What sort of gap should we be expected between jabs at the moment? I had Pfizer 5 weeks ago. My wife had AZ 6 weeks ago. Assuming we are working on 8 weeks?

We really are getting back to normal, it's Saturday and apparently there were no goals but thousands of pricks at both the Valley and Stamford Bridge

I’m surprised too. Given around 200,000 1st jabs per day and about 1m in each year group (so takes 5 days to get through each year), I cant quite figure out how we are going down the age groups that quickly.

Matt Hancock being savaged this weekend.

I've heard Boris is very keen on a reshuffle, but surely he can't move Hancock out of Health?

It may be as much down to who (of stature) is willing to take it

Numbers of positive cases are rising dramatically following the Eid Al-Fitr holidays when half the country went to visit their families and brought the shit back with them.

Police did have road-blocks in place, but they used the back roads to get home.

Now we are in lockdown again and everything has to close at 9pm.

We were managing the daily increases of 5 - 6,000, but that has risen to over 13,000 a day.

And they still won't vaccinate us foreigners
