We probably do but the media only have inside knowledge of the UK market. If there was some obscure Mexican we were after, how would the UK press find out? Nobody really knew about Sorloth until the last minute for exactly that reason...

But it doesn't contradict what I said at all, there were still quite a few Ajax fans who were shocked at how much we bought him for. Check the original thread out.

Of course there were others that said he had/has potential but the question marks over him that were there from day one are still there now, and Roy still barely picks him for the bench, which is where he spent most of his last year for Ajax.

What is sad from our viewpoint is that it seems every time we buy a young player it hardly ever seems to work, hence it seems Parish prefers to opt for safer experienced players. It's understandable but it does mean we always seem to be paying top dollar and wages for players, hence our massive wage bill.

Parish apparently said the other day that "the only option is to improve our academy" but I disagree, we just need to cast our net and continue improving our scouting network. Guiata and Meyer are signs that we are starting to get our act together.
