I'm just utterly amazed we have such a great player. The thing of dreams only a short while ago. Let's hope a deserved England cap is next. Although I appreciate it'll probably be left until he signs for a 'big' club.

Funny how the media conveniently forget to mention that Aaron signed a new long term contract in 2018 with Crystal Palace.

So what ?

Vast majority of players move whilst in the middle of contracts

it bumps up the fee though, doesn't it (the longer the contract)?

I see Valencia is leaving at the end of the season... As Roy Hodgson would say, "Hmph".

Palace players do not move just after signing long term contracts.

What Roy Hodgson said today :

But for Aaron, it doesn’t seem to have bothered him with the speculation. He is happy to be with us and he has signed a long-term contract.

I'm confident he will stay for a long time.

He needs more first team football to improve. He will get that with us.

He will get his chance at United with a manager who actively promotes youth, Valencia leaving and an old Ashley Young. Hopefully he stays one more year.

So this, the longer the contract the more it would cost another club to break it

There is no question in my opinion that AWB will be sold in the summer, the interest being shown by the top clubs is bound to start off an auction that could see his fee go north of £40m, which surely we cant refuse but also the lad himself deserves that opportunity.

Is interest really being shown by top clubs or is it more of a case of Will Salthouse sounding out the market and then, putting any deal that may emerge, to the club and the player?

What interest ? Red-top journalists fabricating stories for sales and agents planting through their media contacts stories to make their players seem relevant and in-demand.
Any interest of any note would not be in the public domain.

Roy’s already said AWB is happy at SP and on long term deal. Think we’ll get one more season tbh.

When it comes to transfer speculation we can only go on what we read, just as we do when we read/believe about Palace's interest in a player. As you said it could be agent promoting? but when we talk about a player that was in our under23's at the start of the season and if clubs come calling offering crazy money then we all know the club Will listen.

We all know ORP a long term contract is only a sensible way for a club to be able to call the shots in any transfer enquiry. I would love to see AWB spend another season with Palace which in any case can only be benefical to the player, but this is modern football and money dictates and if say Man Utd come calling can we blame the lad for wanting that opportunity? not forgetting if we recieve £40m plus for a player with less than a season league football, and can then rebuild with 2/3 quality signings surely would make sense for a club like ourselves.

Palace's owners have already shown with Wilf that they will not be bullied by the media into selling players that they wish to keep.

We are no longer little Palace forced to sell to survive but an established Premier League club with ambition.

Ambition, yes but established? We're still looking over our shoulder every season, granted this season less so but still not safe. Give it a few consecutive top half finishes then I'd call us established.

Where are Villa, Stoke ans Swansea now? All had longer and more successful runs in the top flight.
