An outstanding article from a brave and principled woman. We need her to be heard.

This went under my radar.

Tory MP Blunt will attempt to table a no confidence motion in speaker Bercow. Yes, a Conservative MP whose Party has single handedly destroyed our country, having the brass neck to accuse someone else of not being up to the job in hand.

This motion coming from the passive aggressive no-deal extreme of the party that lauds parliamentary sovereignty, just so long as it delivers exactly (and only) what they want

So Labour and the Conservatives have been 'locked' in talks for a few weeks now but there has been:

No breakthrough
No walk outs or breakdown
No leaks
Very little reporting

Given their respective positions aren't really that far apart anyway, is the only fact to take away that it suits both parties to simply be in talks?

After all the obvious compromise is some sort of fudged customs union and a confirmatory public referendum.

It both suits them both to be in talks; and also not to be the ones who break the talks up.

I wonder if they will drag them out until after the May local elections and then either come up with the sort of deal you say or say they can't reach a deal (but either way trying to avoid a negative impact on the local elections).

That's kind of what I am thinking too, although I had the European elections more in mind than the local ones.

I am guessing the parties will also want to treat these elections as a directional guide, although if there is a 30percent turnout what guide you will get from the committed I am not sure.

Anyway the country needs a Brexit break, I for one have appreciated it

Haven't they all been enjoying a well earned break for the past few weeks.

I'm not sure they can drag the talks out until the Euro elections - that would mean nearly two months of talks. Plus May's position is still that she wants her deal approved before 22 May so the elections can be cancelled.

Though even as I write that, I reflect that everything else about this whole thing has been dragged out - so why not?
