When Watford were promoted, their manager was Sanchez-Flores, who achieved a creditable 13th place. However, he was dismissed "over disagreements about the playing style". He played passing football and the Pozzos wanted a more "robust style". Mazzari brought that style, but finished 17th - so was sacked. We'll never know what Silva would have done because the Everton bid mess intervened.
Javi Gracia achieved a "robust"/dirty style, as demanded, and also a degree of success (probably mainly due to some astute signings). Was it a case of a Spanish manager deferring to Spanish manager royalty ? You decide. He was never going to lay on the "black arts" against Guardiola/ManCity, was he ? I've watched most cup finals (from the Tom Finney and Bert Trautman finals on my gran's crackling B&W 10" TV - that was when City were a real club), I didn't watch this one - two clubs gaming the system. Our (controversial) loss to ManUtd, received only muted comment from the media. This weekend's apology for a game brought out the whole gamut of media hoopla and sycophancy. Apparently the FA Cup is important again. Nauseating. |

I like that the "Did you cry at Wembley?" song now has another element to it.

Imagine getting stuffed and then having it rammed down your throat every 5 mins in the new EE adverts. Brilliant
