Arsenal transfer strategy - genius or bizzarre
I’d like to kick this one off with a vote for slightly bizarre.
With a quoted budget of 45m they have so far invested c£6m on Martinelli who is a development project not ready to play yet, Saliba for £26.5m who they are apparently then loaning back so won’t be available this year. That’s £32m of their budget already gone, £13m left and no defensive additions yet. Either they are looking down the back of the sofa and in old coat pockets to rustle up a bit more cash to top up or expect to be able to off load some of the crap players they have in their squad at the moment to other teams - presumably someone who has never seen them play - in order to raise the over £100m required to complete on the 2 players they have already bid on plus whatever they bid as an afterthought any other defensive players. I am wondering if they are going for the “we know our defence is crap but we can score more than you so it doesn’t matter” strategy Who’s going to break first Emery or Kroenke, how long before the fans start to get restless and does anyone else think this feels like an episode of that US series Soap. |

Or the quoted £45m budget is a smokescreen for a much bigger warchest ? Some sort of poverty plead in the vague hope they secure cheaper deals ?

They have over 250 million in reserves . They choose not to spend it . Pathetic plea which sadly the media buy into to support the big 6 .

Good to see that the lack of transfers have galvanised the Arsenal fans who are also blaming their owner for life, the universe and everything. They moan about being marginalised and undervalued, their soulless stadium and lack of atmosphere, have the fans considered that singing and vocally supporting their team might be a possible remedy that is within their gift to make better at no cost? Perhaps they are only able/motivated to sing when they are winning the Premier league or Champions league.

Piers Morgan is a fan - tells you everything you need to know about Arsenal.

Arsenal fans (especially those that squeal "Woolwich Arsenal!") & Chelsea fans south of the river should be thrown in the Thames

Does it really matter what the "war chest" Arsenal have available, and does it warrant a debate on a Palace site. Yes they are supposedly linked with Zaha, but when it is an insulting offer that is HALF what CPFC expect then that bid has no relevance or merit, more of a direct insult as far as our club is concerned.
When they come back with a sensible offer that is acceptable to CPFC, for me it is only then that it warrants discussion, and this is not meant to be a dig at the starter of the thread. |
