I like Eredivisie in general, it's not the most competitive but in recent years, it's certainly been more interesting without being a top European league.
of course not, but there was very little trouble between fans of Celtic and Ajax, but we had been warned about their 'hooligans' being out for blood, but it was the Politie who were the real problem, never seen such blatant thuggery in my life

The Ajax mob were good for banging on doors and windows of pubs and then running off. Like the game knockdown ginger when we were kids. The Anderlecht fans who came over to help them out seemed a bit more keen on actually having a row. But top mob of the trip, as NorthCurveEagle correctly states, was the rozzer.

I'm going back to Amsterdam in July for a wee visit and will be sure to do a quick pilgrimage to 'the' lamp-post.

How thoroughly expected and yet depressing that the team that comes from the place twinned with Croydon are in bed with Chelsea. Yuck. The sooner that link gets broken the better.

Long live the Fenian wham-post! We were just heading to Centraal to go to Bijlmer-ArenA when the trouble started, still saw a lot of police brutality. And yes, f*ck Vitesse! (Till the owner leaves)

Results
12th April
Go Ahead Eagles 0-2 sc Heerenveen
SC Cambuur Leeuwarden 4-3 Vitesse Arnhem
FC Twente Enschede 3-0 Roda JC Kerkrade

13th April
AZ Alkmaar 1-1 NEC Nijmegen
FC Utrecht 2-1 Heracles Almelo
RKC Waalwijk 1-1 PEC Zwolle
Ajax Amsterdam 3-2 ADO Den Haag
PSV Eindhoven 0-2 Feyenoord Rotterdam

Ajax were thwarted by Feyenoord yet again in their bid to win their 4th Title in a row but they are 6 points clear with two games remaining, and they will still win title on GD even if they lose last their two and Feyenoord win both f their final games. Feyenoord also looking increasingly good for 2nd as they are 4 points clear, this earns them a spot in the Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round (Non-Champions route).

While at the bottom, Roda are almost certain to be relegated while NEC and RKC Waalwijk look set to fill the two relegation Playoff places.

Also, a brilliant win for Cambuur Leeuwarden over Chelsea B

Always liked PSV I think because they had Luc Nilis and Philip Cocu. And also FC Twente as my Dad used to do business with a Dutch fella who was from Oldenzaal and Twente were his local club.

Results
27 April
ADO Den Haag 2-1 AZ Alkmaar
Feyenoord Rotterdam 5-1 SC Cambuur Leeuwarden
sc Heerenveen 4-1 FC Utrecht
Heracles Almelo 1-1 Ajax Amsterdam (Ajax zijn Landskampioen- Ajax are champions)
NAC Breda 1-1 RKC Waalwijk
NEC Nijmegen 2-5 FC Twente Enschede
PEC Zwolle 1-2 PSV Eindhoven
Roda JC Kerkrade 1-2 FC Groningen
Vitesse Arnhem 2-2 Go Ahead Eagles

Ajax win their fourth title in a row, and their 33rd total, thanks to a point gained at struggling Heracles.
Feyenoord ensured a UCL qualifying berth in 2nd with a 5-1 thrashing of Cambuur (my two favourite teams)
Roda JC avoided the drop again, but only because NEC failed to pick up any points vs Twente

Final day results (3/5/14)
SC Cambuur Leeuwarden 1-2 ADO Den Haag
FC Utrecht 2-1 Vitesse Arnhem
AZ Alkmaar 1-1 Feyenoord Rotterdam
RKC Waalwijk 0-3 sc Heerenveen
Go Ahead Eagles 0-1 Roda JC Kerkrade
Ajax Amsterdam 2-2 NEC Nijmegen
PSV Eindhoven 2-0 NAC Breda
FC Groningen 3-1 Heracles Almelo
FC Twente 2-2 PEC Zwolle

The regular season ends in Holland, but Europa League and Relegation playoffs still to take place.
Roda JC were relegated only by a point as NEC picked up an unlikely draw against champions Ajax, Roda also had a superior goal difference. NEC and RKC Waalwijk both in the playoffs for relegation/promotion while Heerenveen, Vitesse, Groningen and AZ all play off for Europa League berths.

The top scorer of the campaign was Heerenveen's Icelandic hitman Alfred Finnbogason who hit 29 goals, followed by Feyenoord's Graziano Pellè with 23 and AZ Alkmaar's Aron Jóhansson who found the net 17 times.

Potentially 3 Rotterdam teams in the Eredivisie next season, Feyenoord, Sparta and Excelsior, with the biggest Rotterdam derby (Sparta-Feyenoord) being played for the first time in 5 seasons. Amsterdam cops may have trouble on their hands, from Rotterdam, without the involvement of Feyenoord.

So all three got relegated and three promoted? That is extremely rare isn't it? Two of those relegated (Roda and NEC) have been in there Eredivisie as long as I can remember. This can only be good though for the league. Very often one up and down was making the League go a bit stale, with in most circumstances the newly promoted side being the one to go straight back down. This should hopefully liven it up a bit next season and make it competitive at both ends of the table.

Rotterdam have got their Derby back after 5 years.

congrats to FC Dordrecht back in the top division after a 20 year absence.

it's crazy how Sparta entered the play-offs after finishing 16th in the Eerste Division winning what they call the second period title, they knocked out the team who finished 6th (FC Eindhoven) and top division Nijmegen.

RKC Waalwijk been relegated after a 7 year stay in the top division.

NEC I believe have been relegated after 20 years in the top division.

Roda have been relegated after 41 years in the top division.

This should hopefully liven it up a bit next season and make it competitive at both ends of the table.
First time in at least 12 years I believe that 3 have gone down, crazy playoffs, made me realise why I watch the Eredivisie

Not a problem, I will be doing the same next season as well, trying to keep others interest in this league alive
