Im only now just getting over Gartside wanting to pull up the ladder on the rest of the league and also doubling Freedmans pay to take him offus when we were going well. As it transpired they couldnt afford to pay Douggie that amount which, as I recall, became apparent very quickly. It was akin to theft frankly. They've been a basket case since. Still Mr Gartside is no longer with us and its those fans I sympathise with. we've been there and know how it feels

Reminds me of Charlton and Dowie, not due to wages but down to the amount he spent on average players. They still haven't recovered.

Quote:
The EFL has today been informed that the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), responsible for issuing the general safety certificate at Bolton Wanderers, has placed a prohibition notice on the Club under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

As a result, all supporters will be prevented from entering the University of Bolton Stadium until the Club can demonstrate that the stadium can deliver the matchday operation to the standard required.

Prior to the meeting, called by the SAG, the Club confirmed it would be unable to commit to meet the obligations of its safety certificate until after a scheduled appearance at the High Court tomorrow (3 April).

SAG members concluded this would be a challenging timeframe to put an adequate plan in place to protect the safety of fans during upcoming home fixtures against Ipswich Town on Saturday 6 April and Middlesbrough on Tuesday 9 April.

The EFL is currently engaged with the Club in regard to how they intend to meet their fixture obligations.

SAG is a multi-agency panel which includes Bolton Council, Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance.

An EFL Spokesman said: “Whilst disappointed, the EFL understands the rationale for the position taken by the SAG at this time. However, we still hope the fixtures will take place as planned. We will work with the Club and offer them any practical assistance that is available to us in an attempt to find a successful and timely resolution to the issue.”

They can always play them behind closed doors, it is only the fans that will not be allowed in.

Terrible situation but they don't have to cancel the games - that is more an issue with their players being on strike.

But ticket sales would bring in revenue, that revenue can be used to pay staff.

Don't ST holders have a contract with the club, so keeping them out wouldn't work.

Can't find in depth season ticket Ts & Cs on the Bolton website but I found this:

The season ticket(s) are sold in accordance with the Ground Regulations and the Safety at Sports Grounds Act 1975 as amended. You will not receive a refund on your season ticket(s) for any breach of Ground Regulations, which results in your season ticket(s) being cancelled

Surely this bit covers them? As it sounds like their ground is in breach of the "Safety at Sports Grounds Act 1975" does this mean their ticket holders aren't entitled to any compensation/refunds etc?

They have been given a "stay of execution" until May 8th to let a proposed takeover go through. However the prospective owner is former Watford chairman Laurence Bassini

He's a total nutcase. He has said, "If they go down it's a three-year plan, if they stay up it's a two-year plan to get in the Premier League," only a few days ago. He's also promised to chuck money at them. So even if they survive their current turmiol, they'll undoubtedly have another to deal with when it all unravels for this imbecile.

If I were a Bolton fan I'd be in absolute despair. I can't see anything other than 3 years - minimum - of tribulations and flirting with catastrophe.

So an entire club goes down the pan over a debt that equates to less than two months of Pogba's wage demand.

Football is f**ked.

Bolton's players are refusing to play until they are paid and now their match tomorrow has been called off.

Good on the players, as I am sure none of us would work nearly 2 months without being paid. Regardless how much you earn.

It's the fans I feel sorry for.
