Good luck to the bloke, but I just don't think he's cut out for management.

Atlanta is a decent gig for him to be fair!

But can he handle it?
Steadied the ship a little after a bad start, but too early too tell. |

Another defeat, but the freak weather conditions mean that FdB has an excuse to extend his tenure at Atlanta United for another couple of weeks at least....

He's taken the champions (albeit after losing their best player) straight to the bottom of the league

From the link above... The news of Sigi Schmid passing had slipped by me (I guess because he died on Christmas Day).
Carry on... |

Ward learning the wingback position, Luka as a centre back. What a bell end.

Looks like they (Atlanta) have turned it round somewhat. Won their last 3 matches and 4 out of last 5.
Maybe they are getting the hang of FdB's methods. |

I think they will do ok, but the problem is they were the best team in the country when he took over and it isn't really an elite league. So ok isn't good enough.

Well after a good spell (Won 6 out of 7), they have now lost their last two games.

They are in the middle of 5 matches in 15 days which has included a trip to Vancouver, followed by a trip to New York, followed by a trip to Salt Lake City. Add to that losing Barco (who was just coming into his own) to the U-20 World Cup.

Yep, crazy schedule. And Man City moan(ed) about having to come down to London 3 times in a week.

De Boer: Inter run by agents
Frank de Boer has claimed that agents ran Inter and ‘took up 50 percent of my time’ during his ill-fated reign in 2016. De Boer lasted just 85 days as Inter boss, losing seven of his 14 games in charge, and the Dutchman is adamant he was doomed to fail. “At Inter, we spent so much time dealing with politics, with agents,” the Atlanta United Coach told Yahoo Sports. “That took up 50 percent of my time, when it should have been 10 percent. “A [player’s] agent told me, ‘If I’d known you weren’t going to start my player, I would never have hired you as manager.’ “That’s how much influence he had on who was in charge." What was your excuse for failing at Palace then Frank?

Im sure he has forgotten a million times more than any of us will ever know about football - With his career he surely would know his stuff.....
But weirdly he didnt get the dynamic of a club like Palace at all. His treatment of Ward and Kelly was really stupid. He mugged them off basically and at Palace if you treat players badly and those players are universally popular in all the right ways you will have issues - At SP said why did he start with 3 at the back and have 2 19 year olds in that three? Crazy stuff.

We did play reasonably well vs Burnley, although the fact that they were happy to let us come at the them after scoring must be taken into account. Maybe FDB could’ve been a success if he started that way in pre season and vs Huddersfield, i.e a sensible formation and selection of players, and then gradually transition to his ‘style.’
We’ll never know though. |

Noticed that his Atlanta side is currently doing ok in the Eastern conference with the best defensive record in the MLS at this time. The thing that did for him IMO is that he played players in 1 position in pre-season and then for the opener had them playing in a different role. That was just poor preparation. |

SP also said that he was brought in to change our style of play but the board were unable to support that financially.
