12 months left, still admirable cover, I'm surprised one of the newbies aren't keen

Very good signing for 12m.

We must be realistic about buying Konsa for a reputed £15m, if as it seems likely that Sakho stays then there is no question as to who our First choice starting centre backs will be, so are we in a financial position to have him merely to sit on the bench? this is CPFC we refer to. Whist we have the above mentioned plus Dann, Kelly and also our own improving prospect Wood, also not forgetting our Polish International and our forgotten Dutch International who is capable to play there.
Surely its common sense that until we move some on only then can we bring in Konsa? we talk about our wage structure being out of control, yet wish to add to the problem. |

I don't know that much about him but I am concerned about our central defence . In all probability Sakho , Tomkins and Dann will miss quite a few games ( their age , constant injuries , surgery , etc will just compound their ability to stay fit ) . A young agile centre back is a priority .

It's a balancing act. We can assume that Tomkins & Sakho will have their normal share of injuries over the season so it's a fair bet that the 3rd choice centre back will get 25-30 games ? In that scenario, having a £15m player as cover seems ok. Maybe offset by selling Dann ?

Can’t see it unless we sell Dann or Kelly

Younger CH will learn a lot from our experienced ones while waiting for chances to play. We need signings like this

There is no arguement that i would welcome another young addition and have mentioned several times before that the commanding young Cooper from Millwall would be excellent, but only providing we move some players on to balance the books. |

Thats a strong possibility if they were to come in as clearly they as a club are on the up with strong backing, and may appeal more to the lad.

That’s a steal and is exactly what’s needed. We always overlook young players from the Championship that are clearly ready to step up

Is a CB exactly what is needed at the moment? RB and a forward are the main priorities at the moment, not sure £15m on a CB who won’t be first choice would be a good use of transfer funds.

Sorry I mean exactly what we need on terms of age and age ready to play in the Prem. Though our centre backs are getting older and all pick up injuries

Not only are they in for him, it looks like that's where he's off very shortly if rumours are to be believed.

Agree, but we aren't going to spend £15m on a squad player

Frightening the amount of money being thrown around for completely untested players
£12M the new 750k

If we want a new centre back from the Championship we should be looking at Webster from Bristol City. Very good player. Villa have had 1 offer rejected but expected to go back with another offer and I suspect he will go there. However, unless we are selling one of our existing centre backs I doubt we will buy one anyway.

He is useful but Webster looks like a proper footballer who can play the ball too.
