If you’re a forward who is well endowed in the chest area, then you’ll be at a disadvantage when it comes to offside. Dolly Parton would’ve been caught offside more times than Clinton Morrison.

It's great to see women's football on the up and up. It will take at least a generation more, and probably two, but in theory there is no reason women's football can't be on the same technical level as men's.

They will never match power and pace, but it should be equally enjoyable to watch when they reach that level. Miles away from it currently obviously, and understandably.

HT 3:0

All goals from Lyon players. 7 out of the 11 are from the Lyon team.
They should win this by 6 or 7!

It happened with tennis didn’t it. By all accounts the level was quite poor in the early days, but certainly by the time I started watching in the early 80’s, the competition and standard of tennis was good.

More VAR nonsense in the Spain-South Africa game.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they should play in smaller goals and potentially smaller pitches. So many “stunning” goals would have easily been saved by the likes of Hennessey simply because he’s so much taller.

I guess it keeps it interesting, rarely see a 0-0 as a result.

Smaller goals would result in turgid matches, the level of finishing isn’t good enough

Some of the goalkeeping at this tournament has been nothing short of inept, if I didn’t know better I’d be checking the asian betting patterns.

Craziest was that goon Alexi Lalas agreed with giving that second penalty.

The second pen - I couldn't see any deviation after kicking the ball towards the player.

The first - if putting your hands up to your face when a ball is kicked hard at you from 2 yards away is deemed unnatural, I expect 4 penalties per game minimum next season.

Take it from me the majority of people are not interested in womens football and the sooner Sky realise that the better.

Nothing wrong with minority sports. And it's on the BBC

It’ll probably get as many/more viewers than your average rugby or cricket match tbh. At the end of the day, it’s football.

That’s it exactly. I’d watch two pub sides if they put it on TV and I had a bit of background on the sides/rivalry/competition stats...

If you got 22 elephants; 11 in Palace kits and 11 in Brighton and chucked a ball and two goals into the vicinity, I’d watch that as well.

I can’t see why women’s football can’t be enjoyed. Tennis is a great example; okay, you’re not going to get anyone on Nadal’s/Federer’s level, but you can still watch an intriguing, quality game of high entertainment.

And the larger and probably more important positive outcome re. the sudden media spotlight on the women’s game is that more young girls will get involved and enjoy the beautiful game - what’s wrong with that?

And? If your complaint is that any sport with less views than top level male professional football isn’t worth showing, then you’re just being silly.

That’s the key point really, getting girls interested. As inclusive as we like to think that men’s football is in the UK, it is still 80% blokes who are seriously invested in it. So if similar proportions of women became very invested in women’s football, it’ll be doing pretty well.

Scotland look okay so far. Was worried it was going to be a bit of a mismatch like last time.
