It is not a ridiculous VAR penalty, it is a ridiculous handball penalty.

Genuine question - do the players shout ‘Man on!’ in the ladies’ game? If not, what’s the alternative?

Fran Kirby appealed. It was a definite Pen. The ball went straight up in the air after it hit her arm. |

Is it time to go back to the drawing board and redefine what a penalty should be about? Even what shape the area should be? How far out the shot should be? I'm sure the original idea was to penalise serious foul play directly intended to prevent an imminent goal. Not a slight barge on a player running away from goal on the corner of a packed penalty area, or these impossible-to-avoid handballs we're seeing.
It's as tedious as watching the same bloke endlessly kick a ball between two posts uncontested from 50 yards because someone infringed section 4 of rule 756.6b/451. . |

A thought I had was that up here north of the border, it’s not uncommon for fans to call opposition teams a bunch of fannies. Would be statement of fact under these circumstances.

[QUOTE=norwoodeagle;14786157]So what about holding your arms out for balance? Which is what the Scottish defender was doing - not narrowing the angle.

Thinking about Moxey’s handball against Spurs that was given in our return to the Prem. Got to hand it to Clattenburg...he was ahead of his time.

I don't think the fact it hit her arm is the problem... it is the intent that is in question.

A few of ours, Bronze, Parris etc are technically decent and good luck to them in this tournament. However my wife and mother in law are watching this saying England look good and they’d give men’s sides a run for their money. They won’t hear it when I say any semi pro men’s side would wipe the floor with them. They even suggested they’d give Palace a game and laughed when I said we’d beat them 10-0 at least.

Even when their arm is out, I still can't see how it can be deliberate handball. Unless the motion is done to deliberately alter the course of the ball, should it be deemed handball for me. This new ****about with handball and VAR stoppages is going to really kill the game. Can't be re-refereeing games.
