That is going to be really interesting this season with VAR.

Look at the France penalty in the Womens world cup, a retake is ordered and bizarrely a yellow card because the keepers foot is an inch too far forward. They score the re-take when several players, including from France are way inside the area.

If they use VAR to retake penalties they need to enforce all the laws and we could see penalties being taken 3 or 4 times!

Simple. A further infringement at a re-take results in a rugby-style 'penalty-goal' or conversely the penalty is cancelled and a goal kick results.

VAR will ruin the game in its present form.

Edit: just realised this is the Jay Rodriguez thread. At £5m, yes all day long.

Like his goal away against Villa?

Gayle was better 1 on 1 than Wilf is.

How often did you watch him ? I saw several Baggies games on the box and Mums side of family are all Baggies and he’s highly rated.
For me it’s a case of he’s better value that Ayew imo.

As I mentioned in the women's world cup thread - we will see stuff like this all the time, but only when it benefits the bigger side.

£5m now and £5m next year to join Burnley. Not a bad deal for a player who can hold his own in the PL. Think that is an astute signing for Burnley.

Might as well spent £5m on a decent loan that will actually score goals at this level.

Despite the exotic sounding name he's a Burnley lad, or first started playing with them, cant remember exactly.

Jay Rodriguez

Could be good but in reality he has one productive season in the PL over 5 years ago (13/14 season). Like Gayle, he has only scored consistently in the Championship. 51 in 133 in the Champ vs 33 in 141 in the PL (of which nearly half were in that 13/14 season). Take 13/14 out and his PL record is 18 in 100.

He has had two good seasons in 8 where he has played regularly.

33 PL goals, often playing wider, in 141 games.

How many Palace players better that record?

Yup but he proved last season he is fit and he is able to score goals albeit at Championship level. As a comparison in 5 PL campaigns he has scored more PL goals than Wilf has in 6, playing less.

If you don't think for £10m he is a really astute buy then that is fine and it is your opinion, but i would disagree,
