It's the only Gods own English speaking place in the heathen Spanish/Dutch/French/Portuguese region.

Trinidad & Tobago 1 Guyana 1. Both teams eliminated.
Guyana's goal was a corker scored by 36 year old Neil Danns! Apparently his 3rd on of the tournament. |

USA 1 Panama 0
I watched maybe 60% of the game... cure for insomnia! That big lug Altidore scored, but generally a very Benteke type performance from him (or maybe Lukaku like). I'm not sure what Gregg Berhalter is doing... shades of Frank de Boer trying to change a "system". P.S. I think Panama must have the longest National Anthem out there... it started, I went to the bathroom, came back and it still was going! |

Game 2:
HT - Mexico 1 Costa Rica 0 Feisty affair. Saw a first... Both teams were pissing about so long at a free kick to CR that the spray the ref puts down to mark 10 yards dissolved or melted away (whatever it does) so Mexico just crept forward, which pissed CR off, and so the ref marked it off again, but as the spot of the foul had also gone, CR moved the ball forward before the ref could remark that, which pissed Mexico off... bunch of handbags. Also, not sure is with the font Mexico use on their numbers and letters... horrible. Hard to tell 9, from 4, from 7 and even 1. 5 and 2 look like coat hangers! I think it's some kind of futuristic computer language font. |

1-1 CR got a penalty. Hate to say it, but I think VAR would have turned it over (no VAR here). Outside the area, and the CR guy kick the Mexico guys leg anyway!

First game today:
Jamaica 1 Panama 0 Somewhat disputed penalty, but with no VAR... it is what it is. I'm not finding any video of the incident yet. Next up USA v Curacao (who I didn't know existed to a week or two ago!)... should be fun if US don't win this! |

Do you know hard it is trying to explain to my wife the difference between the Gold Cup and the Copa America.

Does your wife know the difference between North and Central America and South America? Or is she the typically geography challenged American?

I'm surprised she accepted (or at least didn't question) that the Women's World Cup was in France! Haiti/Mexico still 0-0 after 68 minutes. |

I take a keenish interest in the Guyana national team ( mum was born there ) and for them to have even qualified for the tournament is a great achievement.
Danns has scored three and has a total of 9 in 12 I think for the Golden Jaguars. Ex Palace youth player Kadell Daniels also plays for them. Both Carl and Leon Cort also turned out for them a few years back and ex Derby and Birmingham player Michael Johnson now manages them and yes, most of the squad play either lower league or non league in England. USA v Jamaica.
Players taken off the pitch after 25 minutes due to serve weather warning. US are 1-0 up and pissing all over Jamaica... break is good for them to regroup as they are at 6's and 7's. At this rate US should win by 5 or 6 minimum. Oh... and I doubt if the ground is 1/3 full. Disappointing for a semi-final but maybe they knew about the incoming weather. |

Back after about an hour and a half delay. Jamaica looking much better after the break.
HT: 1-0 USA. |
