The Benitez decision will really make Newcastle have to sit up and make tough decisions as to which directions they will be taking, this was a manager who saved the club from certain relegation on more than one occassion yet was allowed to walk away.
The only saving grace for their loyal fans is the possible take over and that will need to be asap as the new season rapidly approaches, as to which top manager would be willing to take over a shambolic situation is anybody's guess unless the new Arab guys step in soon and saves a "big" club. |

They were always punching above their weight with Benitez and they're not broke. If they want to protest and moan about owners they should see what it's like having one who wanted to amalgamate us with Charlton and Wimbledon or 2 that took us to the brink of extinction.

Benitez said a while ago that the team needed investment. It's mostly a high end Championship squad otherwise. Without that forthcoming I can see why he'd be unwilling to spend another season wasting his time when there's probably better opportunities on the table either from a competitive or financial standpoint.
Supposedly he's paid £6m a year at Newcastle and has been offered £25m a year in China. Not sure I believe that, but I can believe that there's several decent Champions league teams willing to match his Newcastle pay. |

Chris Hughton? Has he not got unfinished (relegation) business there?
Dennis Wise Alan Pardew would surely be the dream ticket with their deep Newcastle connections and love of all things Geordie. On that note Steve Maclaren is available and presumably could put on the acccent within a month or two with his time at Boro pre-acclimatising him.

Still with a 6million a year salary on offer, we all know Pulis will be ratting up My Cashley drainpipes like a prime norveticus on meth.
He is the perfect candidate: available free of charge, record of PL survival, won't require any costly creative midfielders or strikers to be signed (although an extra 4 central defenders needed to fill the fullback and central midfield positions), but most appealing of all will pay for and model sports direct merchandise on each and every day. Hughton would probably be the type of yes-man that Ashley would like.

It's great that all these recent suggestions are actual possibilities. Geordie implosions are brilliant.

I imagine that the eight year contract they agreed in 2012 is still valid.
