Lampard to Chelsea
So they have now been given permission to talk to him so you would think this is now going to happen.
2nd year being a manager, had 2 good players given to him by Chelsea and another by Liverpool last season but couldn't get them through the play-offs, Chelsea have just lost their best player, they have a transfer embargo in place.... Good move or not? Think Man Utd and Chelsea could suffer poor seasons this year the way this summer is shaping up. |

If I was Lampard I wouldn't touch it, he is going to get the job at some point and they appoint a new manager every year anyway.
Can only think this is to appease the fans whilst they have the embargo and lost their best player. They will struggle this season regardless of who is in charge and have no chance of a top 4 finish at all.

Knows the young players and they have a transfer embargo...
They also want someone to appease the fans after Sarri who they couldn't stand. Dare I say it, I think he could end up doing alright. Might be a good thing for some of their younger English players too.

If appointed this could turn out to be another Man Utd situation, as once the novelty of a player legend in charge wore off reality struck, and now many fans are suggesting OGS should be replaced.
I am sure Lampard will make the grade in time but currently is very inexperienced managing at this level for a club with high expectancy, as i said back in January FL would have been a good recruit for Palace if working under Roy and then taking over this season with Roy moving "upstairs" until his contract expired. That would have given him the perfect "learning" at this level first. |

I was looking closely so see how the new big names would fair in the management game. Lampard/Gerrard/Sol Campbell.
I didnt expect lamps to be leading the way. I had more respect for Campbell starting out in league 2. It will be interesting to see where these 3 are in 5 years. |

He is the Chelsea supporters’ own Princess Diana (I can’t remember who I heard describe him as that, but it is spot on).

I've always been amazed at how some owners/directors think a great player will be a great manager. So often, not true. eg Bryan Robson, Roy Keane.
However I think Lamps could well be a good manager (just a hunch) and I think he will be in an almost no lose situation at Chelsea given the transfer embargo which gives him an excuse and the love he will feel from the fans. Clearly a big call for him though, given the average length of service of the last few managers.

Can see Leicester and Wolves really pushing for a place in the top six next season.

Well, i can't stand Chelsea but this has to be a good thing for English football.
An English manager appointed at a top 4 side. Farking hell.

Can't see the owner giving him the time he needs unless he really has lowered his expectations for the coming season. Di Matteo another ex player and "legend" won the FA Cup and Champions league in May 2012, signed a 2 year contract in June 2012 and was sacked 5 months later.
