Spurs.
This is on the basis that they have gone from being a mid-table side 10/15 years ago to being able to compete with Arsenal, Chelsea etc. without any huge injection of cash. |

They choose not to spend it. They made a profit of £150m last full year, finally pay top end range salaries and are generally a huge attraction for players due to their training facilities and ground.
They are less punching above their weight, than merely being well run and managed.

Liverpool.
For their size, it amazes me they do so well in Europe.

Definitely a psychological barrier for European opposition. They lose to the legend rather than the reality, in England we know from experience that if you have a go at them they crumble.

Any London side that isn't Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea. It's amazing how many professional clubs the capital supports when Madrid only has 2, Paris 1, Rome 2 ect. You can even include home counties sides such as Watford and Brighton in that given the transport links.

Getafe too if you include home counties.

Eh, what? Rayo Vallecano? Carabanchel? And if you're going to include Watford, you have to include Getafe, Leganés, Móstoles and all that lot.

The old Wimbledon massively overachieved for about 15 years, particularly after they ended up with us at Selhurst. |

I suspect that is merely a debate of what is the 'city'? 'Greater' Rome isn't much smaller than Greater London I suspect.

Possibly correct. I just whacked in population of London/Rome/etc.

Over the years many non-league teams have got a minted owner and then been promoted to levels way above their natural station:
Gretna Colne Dynamos Rushden + Diamonds North Ferriby All had relatively tiny catchment areas and achieved (brought) outstanding success for their natural level. All also went bust when the owners died or had enough. Lots of other current and past examples no doubt. |

We could easily be in the 'clubs who punch below their weight' category too tbf. Easily could have been the West Ham of south london but for some well documented shit decisions in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

could have...doesnt cut it.
However much we all love Palace, we are still a club that have never won anything, play in a stadium long overdue a refit, and are doing extremely well to be in a seven year Premier stint. Who would want to be the Wes Ham of anything....lol. I still remember the limos on the motorway.

On second thoughts, Selhurst is still better then playing in an athletics stadium half filled with day trippers.

Worst stadium i've been too. Give me Selhurst with all it's flaws every time.
