Probably saved something by paying up front. It would have been a negotiated exit.

Be interesting if he signs for another Premier league club, except he'll go back to Germany though

I never saw him do anything that Johnny Williams couldn’t have done.

Stay fit?

Apparently so, but he "failed" in another three countries and then went down to the Spanish second tier before coming good. I'm not sure he would have succeeded at Palace whoever the manager was.

I’m sure there’ll be a clause not allowing him to join another Prem team without some sort of fee

Pretty much, he wasn’t even as good as Barry Bannan

How did we ever get duped into signing this bloke in the first place?

Just never really seemed to work apart from a few decent sub performances here and there didn't really do a lot.
Unfortunately not really suited to the physicality of the Premier League. Good luck if he resumes his career back in Germany. |

Just didn’t fit here. Shame.

When I first heard we had signed him, I read up his background, and came to the conclusion that there were two options.
1. We had made the signing of the century on a free, or 2. When we watched him, it would soon emerge why no other club, in any country, were prepared to sign him, even for nothing Sadly, I have to say that option 2 turned out to be true I don't go for this "he was never given a chance" story. He was given plenty of chances. Even if he was only coming on for 10 minutes, I would have expected him to show something to suggest he should be starting. But he never showed me anything to suggest he would get into many Championship clubs, let alone Premier clubs |

They’ve got enough players flattering to deceive already

That's a shame, he wasn't really given a chance. His tight turning circle and close control were never fully utilised. This will come back to haunt us.

When we signed him, I honestly expected him to be sold on to a top European team for 35mil or something.

Showed small signs that he could have been a player for us. That first away win against man city, in 2018, for example, where he played a crucial role.
But he was never going to fit into a Roy team. That's not his fault. We just shouldn't have bought him. Wish him the best for the future. |
