It was certainly typical Palace. Haven't been able to create or finish for a few games then go and score two worldy's against their arch rivals. It was Roy iof the Rovers stuff. it really was. One phase of play in the second half where Guaita was throwing himself all over the place and defenders were putting their bodies on the line left, right and centre for about 20 seconds, I felt Brighton had to score, but they didn't. It was an immense, heart stopping at times, backs against the walls display.

Our legions of whingers were demanding a gutsy performance last night - well, they got one. Not pretty, but the players all played their part. Not good that we are forced into doing that against Brighton but, hey, football is all about the results !

The 3-1 win away at Man City late 80s was a bit shithouse. They were 1 up, smashed a pen against the bar and were in total control until Keeper Eric Nixon got sent off, and no sub goalkeepers in those days handed us the points

The one that sticks out against was Dowies first game in charge at home to Millwall on boxing day. We lost 1 0 but battered them from start to finish. Think we hit the woodwork 5 times as well. It just would not go in

It didn't involve Palace, but a comparable game from a statistical perspective was Burnley v Liverpool in 2016.

Some of the stats were uncannily similar to last night's - Liverpool had 80% possession to Burnley's 20%; Liverpool had 26 shots (5 on target) to Burnley's 3 (2 on target); and the corner count was 12-1 to Liverpool.

Burnley won 2-0.

And the really funny thing? Adam Lallana (who has copped a lot of flak from BHA fans this morning) was on the losing side in both matches.

I remember being there for that. Didn't we fall behind to a strange goal in the first place. Then did a sub called Wilf change the game?

From my memory that wasn't against the run of play to the same degree as last night.
