Other major cities subsidise their capital city public transport more than we do. And we still subsidise it, just less than most.

And that’s actually fair. People in London earn lots more money than people outside of London, so I would far rather we put public transportation subsidies paid out of general taxation to places where it is more needed.

For instance from the DFT

“Rail travel was also affected by income level. Those earning the highest made over three times more rail trips than those earning the lowest. Most rail users were in managerial and professional occupations, whereas those who are unemployed were more likely to use buses”.

In London bus travel is subsidised more than trains, which is appropriate given the above.

No, I think it will actually happen next year. I should be able to catch the normal train to the start of Crossrail at Abbey Wood and it will take me to near my office from there in well under half an hour (assumes HQ will be open again before then).

if trains/tube were subsidised more, more people on lower incomes would be able to use them. Keeping pricing high effecively prices those on lower incomes off tube and train...

You get free off peak buses, trains and tubes at 60 in London. In the Home Counties you only get free buses at state retirement age which is currently 66. For trains over age 60 you can get a £30 senior card that gives 1/3 discount on off peak throughout the country. Under 60 you get the same but it only covers the south east. Definitely best to live in Greater London from that perspective.

Its that bribe that Khan wanted the government to pay for. Rightly they refused such excess. Theres no reason any adult under the retirement age should expect the rUK to pay for their travel.
Its a voting bribe nothing else.

we know that you have an irrational hatred of Khan and if you were honest you would know that most of it is funded by london councils and TfL funds a small part of it.

How about your beloved tories wanted to stop funding for 18 travel?

That would depend on the rationality of your hatred.

Aren't you the guy who told a black poster on here that black people should consider ways they can 'make it up' to white supremacists, as a way to end racism?

And then we never heard from that poster again..?

I think the accusations from most people who disagree with you on here are about stupidity rather than racism.
