The point is that whilst we're paying Jimmy Kebe £30k a week (hopefully we're not paying him a penny if he really isn't turning up to training), the club can't really use the excuse that we don't have the money to employ a few extra heads on match day.
The ticket isn't free , the ticket is £15 . The ticket would be sold to anyone else at £15 wouldn't it

the ticket has a face value of £15 - that's not the same as saying it cost the club £15 to give it away. It would only be a cost if you can prove that by giving the ticket 'free' to the turnstile operator you prevented a paying customer from purchasing it.

They don't actually get given a free ticket, they simply take an empty seat.

The cost to the club is £0 ∴ the ticket is £0.

This is a very disappointing report from many sources.

The club has plenty of experience of handling crowds of this size, there really is no excuse for queues of this length forming well before kick off.

As others have said, they must know roughly how many tickets had been booked for collection and employ enough staff from 6-8 o/c at least to cope. After all, the sooner fans get in the ground, the more catering etc that they're likely to buy! Let alone the importance of efficient customer service.

Plus it must be hellish for those two ticket staff to cope alone with all that pressure and cheesed off fans.

Sorry this is a stupid comment that totally misses the point. The game was NOT all ticket so why not be able to turn up?

You could hardly say turning up 40 minutes before kick off when the ground is only going to get 13,000 fans is irresposible could you

Interesting Thayer on one from CPFC2010 has the balls to answer this farce.. After all they took our season ticket money and let all enjoy the humiliation and farce with Pulis that followed.
I hate sloppy customer disservice like this - they should be ashamed

In Spain, for Malaga matches, we can purchase tickets online and then go to a Cajamar Bank cashpoint to print off the tickets...now if a technologicaly backward Andalucian club can sort that out, why can't Palace?

QUOTE]

yeah barca do that as well, i know they are a massive business but it is so convinient... buy the ticket in UK and then whack your card in a cash machine in barca to get your ticket.

HRP in shit posts shock...

I paid for my tickets days ago, the earliest I could as I was waiting on 1 mate to confirm if they were going or not (they were supposed to be elsewhere but we're able to rearrange). I worked every day since and wasn't able to get away to collect them. Fortunately for me the one day I did manage to get away quick sharp was yesterday and I happened to be on a route that took me to Selhurst, so was able to pick up my tickets no problem at about 5.

I daresay a large number of people did not have that opportunity. They may well have also been away or extremely busy at the weekend and had no chance then either.
