On a holiday last year, I met a bloke in a bar (watching us lose 2-1 at Bournemouth), articulate Spurs fan, loved his football and we were the only Brits in the bar. I became friends with him on Facebook, only to discover that he is one of the leaders of the DFLA. The DFLA are staunch Brexit and they have been desperately trying to get people to mobilise on the streets and demonstrate but are failing miserably which kind of backs up an earlier post that whilst, in the event of another referendum, the keyboard warriors will be hard at it, I don't actually think there will be much civil unrest.

I often wondered whether the NHS should offer these as discounted services (as there are cosmetic surgeons who are part of the NHS) undercutting private health care (although maybe with a longer waiting time).

Could be a money spinner for the NHS.

Probably better than my other NHS money maker which is legalising the sale of recreational drugs, but only through NHS approved and owned outlets (ie so when you buy weed, powders or pills, the NHS makes the profit - based on the fact that the NHS on average obtains substances at 1/35th of the street price) - They could literally price Drug Dealers out of the market (no ones going to be smuggling heroin when they're going to be making a fiver on a gram)

3900 homeless in Norway in 2016

21000 in the West Midlands

Sounds like you visited some rough places in Norway Vic.

Thanks for that.

Only £1500 comparative personal allowance?

Rather our system where those who earn the least don't pay tax.

I suppose it depends on whether you think any person is worth £250k a year in salary - I think there are some professionals that are. You obviously think differently.
I'd be astonished if anyone earning 250,000 a month is paying PAYE and contributing 120k a month in tax. The most likely situation where someone is putting down 250k as salary is that in reality that person is earning a lot more (like 750k-1m a year, but is only recording 250,000 as salary.

And there in lies the problem. People might be listed as having a Salary of 250,000 but its likely that they'll have all manner of tax avoidence schemes that result in 250k that has to be accounted for as Salary.

They'll pay taxes etc on the other 500k, but it'll likely be, at best, around that of the lower tax bracket.

Otherwise, they should be sacking their accountant, or have made a moral choice to take 250k as a salary.

That may be the case. I was just pointing out that even they can't get a decent demo up.

My example was £250k a year DS.

Reading Vicmo's post, it sounds like he's talking about rough sleepers, there aren't 21000 rough sleepers in the Midlands.
I can't be bothered to goggle but rough sleeping in the UK is about 5000.

You make it sound like the poorest are better off in the UK than Scandinavia.

Whilst there are still a few loopholes (there always will be) a salaried (not self employed) professional on £250k a year will pay the figures quoted - it is unavoidable. Even our beloved Palace players pay 45% of the vast salaries in tax, even taking into account image rights and charitable donations.

Yes and the 3,900 figure for Norway is for homeless, not rough sleepers, so rough sleepers in Norway would be a fraction of that.

I wouldn't necessarily describe Bergen as rough but I haven't been anywhere else in Norway so it could be their equivalent of Hastings.

So your 2 ideas for the NHS are to commercialise it and have it selling recreational drugs.

Its really difficult to know where to start with either of those 2 suggestions, they are almost equally bonkers.
