Scott Dann's record 18/19 and 19/20 season:

Played: 11

Wins - 7
Draws - 2
Defeats - 2

(plus if you include FA Cup - its another 3 wins from 3 with 3 clean sheets)

Doesn't surprise me at all. Couldn't believe he was being written off after the Hertha game.

If wickham can get a extension would assume Dann would be worth one

A lot will depend on Sakho however with Dann I suspect it'll be a case that another club will offer more money for him to move on.

Imagine his current wages reflect him being a regular first team player. Doubt we'd be in a position to offer that anymore.

I see Dann as 5th choice cb now so sp would have the choice of meeting danns wages or going out in open market and find a cb who can play at prem level in today's market that would cost millions just for a back up cb

For god sake absolutely not. We already have Cahill, Tomkins and Kelly as senior pros on very decent wages. Not to mention the injured Solider Sakho who is on around 100k. Dann at the moment is 5th choice CB and is taking home 60k a week, absolutely ludicrous for a club of our size. I appreciate we can offer him another year at reduced terms but i'm sure he will want to go and play regularly somewhere.

He has been a brilliant player for the club and fantastic servant but we cannot continue with an ageing squad on huge wages.

We need to be looking at a Matt Clarke type that Brighton signed from Pompey for 2.5-3million and is probably on 15k a week. A young prospect with the potential in a year or 2 to play Premier league football. They have loaned him to Derby and by all accounts he's having a very good season.

His current wages represent a starting CB, as he was when he signed it. I would imagine 4 of the 5 CB's are paid a starting CB wage and a high one for a club like ours, for Dann, Cahill and Sakho. That can't continue and us grow in the future.

Our 5th choice CB should be on wages similar to that of Kelly when we signed him, a versatile younger back up, which you could surely pick up for 20k a week, and 3-4m, which is basically a 2 year deal for Dann at 60k, without the versatility or room to improve.

It's what we should have done with Benteke, and without a doubt what we should have done with Wickham, in fact, not even replacing him, would make zero difference aside from the wages we could offer elsewhere.

Yep. Parish seems to reward loyalty though, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is given another deal.

Thought he was immense today, playing through the pain barrier. Obviously Roy didn't think Sakho was ready but nearly conceded a goal by keeping Dann on

Didn't put a foot wrong but should have been subbed off in the 1st half. A team like Burnley will play to his strengths which is why he looked comfortable even after getting injured

Honestly could not figure out what was going on leaving him out there and really through no fault of his own it almost cost us a goal. It's unfortunate for Dann as the injury probably only got worse.

But much respect for him, the man is a warrior. Put the team first before his own fitness.

Maybe there were still doubts about Sakho's fitness.

Anyway, with Cahill injured, Dann being injured today, Kelly needed at full-back, Sakho only just returning from a long lay-off and Tomkins not looking 100% fit either - the 6 games in December may pose a few problems.
Let's hope all of them recover soon.

Scott was great today, nice assist too.

Meyer fans will be excited because Kouyate might have to step into central defence over the busy period leaving a spot in the midfield.

If that happens he will use McCarthy.

That's why most clubs have 4 full backs in squad in case you get injurys if ward Dann and Cahill are injured were now 1 injury away from having to give a kid his debut or play riedewald or schlupp in defence .

I particularly liked the sporting way in which Burnley took a quick free kick seeing him down again.

He did well first half as Burnley shot his game but he should have been substituted at the very latest by half time
We were lucky to get away with the wood miss when dann went down again
a goal connected to his injury was quite likely
He was hobbling and couldn't even jump properly to head in the second half
