"The Boy's a Bit Special" - FFT
Bit of a random thread, for a Friday afternoon..
FourFourTwo had posted a link to To view the link you have to Register or Login "The Boy's a Bit Special" article from 2009 on their twitter feed today. Back when I used to read FFT it was quite good when some of the CPFC players got selected as a promising youngster as they only picked one a month. I think Routledge & Watson probably got mentioned at some point. Some other's they have put up show how many wasted/overrated players have been touted as "the next big thing", and others that were pretty obviously going to go on to play for England. Typically the ones who come across as arrogant seem to have not gone very far! Few random links: To view the link you have to Register or Login - From when he was Carlisle. To view the link you have to Register or Login - Before he left for Spurs. To view the link you have to Register or Login - From when he was at Derby, now a free-agent To view the link you have to Register or Login - Full of himself at Coventry, prior to being full of himself wherever he is now. To view the link you have to Register or Login - When he was at 'Boro. The question about what they predict they will be doing in 5 years time is a good one.. plenty of other player's articles on there from 2000 onwards.

I'm sure Clyne's featured recently too.

VicMo comes across well for one so young.
John Bostock on the other hand? God bothering nonce. We're well rid. All that is wrong with young footballers. I hear that one thing CPFC2010 are finding hard is dealing with these young kids at Palace who have an irritant agent's flea in their ear and unrealistic demands. Bostock eyeing an Aston Martin at 16? Jog on son, play some football first. Footballers don't played in the air, you need to keep your feet on the ground. 'Yeah I came on for my debut with 20 mins to go and I played well'

Bostock:
Best player played with My U16s coach, Micky Hazard, was pretty special, even though he was getting on a bit. He taught me a few tricks, like keep an eye on the keeper in case you have the chance to score from the halfway line. Hazard = C Word.

Bostock:
Chicks I’d love to give you a name but I’ve been with my girlfriend for eight months now and we’re deeply in love so I’m going to have to pass' I don't believe he loves anyone more than himself. |

As for Bostock's words, saying he's completely unique in footballing style and then listing humble as one of his characteristics is brilliant. I also remember reading the article and thinking that it came across as quite non-commital. I still get that impression now.

Interesting how badly Bostock comes across compared to the rest of them, who seem like decent blokes.

I said this at the time but Clinton is genuine Palace and his influence, let alone his scoring ability, would've rubbed off on the young players. I remember that 5-0 Burnley game in 2008 with him, Moses & Sinclair up front and it was the best Palace have played for years. I'd love it if we could get him back as a player-coach. Dont know what his relationship is with Dougie these days but I know they worked well together on the pitch. |
