Case has been adjourned until Monday to allow 5 Serie B sides to get their cases together.

Are they also implicated in the match fixing and financial stuff

OR

Does the court think it is inevitable that clubs will be relegated and letting the clubs prepare their cases for promotion to Serie A?

Are they being promoted? From what I read they were being investigated.

The 5 clubs are:

Messina, Lecce, Treviso (Just been relegated)

Bologna, Brescia (Relegated last season).

If anyone should go up for a start it should be... Mantova, Modena, and Cesena the three teams who lost in the play offs.

If all this really does happen then Italy's European representatives will be:

Champions League: Inter (3rd), Roma (5th), Chievo (7th), and Palermo (8th)

UEFA Cup: Livorno (9th), Parma (10th), and Empoli (11th).

Not true.

The serie B clubs arrived at court unexpectedly and presented their submissions to the court(I assume reasons why they should be promoted in Juve's et al stead or at least not disadvantaged by the outcome) . The proceedings have ben adjourned to allow the serie A clubs 'more time' to answer the charges against them.(ridiculous seeing as how long they've known about the whole thing)

Is there any possibility that Palace could be promoted to Serie A as a result of all this?

Where is the evidence that the regulations are tougher in Italy? You don't get this level of corruption in the UK or indeed elsewhere so I would suggest that is nonsense. Clubs in the UK receive massive fines and points deductions for the smallest financial indiscretion. As was mentioned earlier, if a club folds in Italy then a new club can be formed and would then be permitted to play in the division below. Does this sound particularly harsh to you?

Why were Crystal Palace responsible for the goings on in Heysel? Why for that matter were Liverpool Football club responsible for the actions of a minority of their fans? It was grossly disproportionate to ban English clubs from European competition, because of the actions of some lowlife scummy fans. In this case it is different. It will show, if the allegations are proved that the Italian game is rotten from top to bottom and as such, how can Italian clubs be permitted to appear in premier European competition?

Only a lengthy ban for Italian clubs will suffice, on the European stage, with appropriate steps taken by the Italian FA at domestic level.
Oh dear, let me repeat this for you again. Italian clubs have to prove that financially that can cover all outgoings for the forthcoming season, otherwise they are not allowed to participate in the League to which they are due to play that season. This is what I believe happened to Torino and Napoli, they did not "fold", they simply could not prove they were going to meet forthcoming outgoings. There is no equivalent rule in England, AND THIS IS WHAT I WAS REFERRING TO. I still await your example of where a similar punishment has been imposed in England to that given to Torino, Napoli or Fiorentina.

As for comparing the English ban to the current Italian situation, it was you who introduced this. Your point is not consistent, in that you state that only those responsible for hooliganism should have been punished, but that the whole of Italian football should be punished for the actions of Juve et al, for this will prove they are corrupt, not the whole of the game.

By the way, do you REALLY believe there have been no bent games in England?

Juve face Serie C threat Tuesday 4 July, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Calciopoli prosecutor Stefano Palazzi has today called for Juventus to be relegated into Serie C1, as well as urging the sporting tribunal to condemn Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina to Serie B.

Palazzi made his formal requests at around midday where he pushed for all the clubs charged with sporting fraud to face stiff penalties.

As well as seeing Juve thrown into a Division lower than Serie B, Palazzi wants them to be stripped of their last two Serie A titles and start the new campaign with a six-point penalty.

Hes also asked for Lazio and Fiorentina to begin with a 15 point penalty in next seasons Second Division, where they could be joined by a Milan side who start on minus three points.

There are also now 25, and not 26, individuals on trial for sporting fraud FIGC member Cosimo Maria Ferri was cleared of any wrongdoing last night and Palazzi is pushing for lengthy bans and fines.

Former Juventus director general Luciano Moggi, the man at the centre of the scandal, could face a five-year ban from the game plus multiple fines of 5,000 Euros.

Palazzi has asked for the same length of punishment to be handed out to ex-Juve chief executive Antonio Giraudo, Lazio President Claudio Lotito, Milan official Leonardo Meani, plus Diego and Andrea Della Valle of Fiorentina.

Other notable individuals who may face similar consequences include former FIGC chief Franco Carraro, ex-refereeing designators Paolo Bergamo and Pierluigi Pairetto, and current referee Massimo De Santis.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is facing the threat of a two-year stop, while promising referee Gianluca Paparesta could be sidelined for a year.

The trial began last Thursday but was adjourned until Monday even if nobody was questioned on its restart as the day was dominated by objections from defence lawyers.

All involved maintain their innocence.

The FIGC are hoping for a verdict, which may not be as stiff as Palazzi is pushing for, to be delivered by July 10.

Capello quits troubled Juventus

Fabio Capello has resigned as coach of Juventus, the club said on Tuesday.
The news came as a prosecutor called for the Italian champions to be demoted from Serie A at a sport tribunal investigating match-fixing claims.

New Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon earlier said he hopes Capello will return to the Spanish club, where he won the championship in 1997.

Capello, 60, claimed two straight titles at Juve, although those honours are under threat from the inquiry.

My point was that English football as a whole was penalised because of the actions of a few idiotic fans, so why should the same not apply to Italian football after this scandal? After all, there are more grounds to do so, seeing how the allegations are of a greater footballing gravity. If the main clubs in Italy are all into match fixing and numerous other forms of corruption then what does that tell you about the state of their national game? There have always been rumblings of this kind of thing going on for years, it just has never been proved. Hopefully if/when it is proved in these cases then it will urge the powers that be to take a long hard look at the way domestic football in Italy is run.

In answer to your other point, no clubs here have been relegated in similar manner, but that is only because nothing ofd this nature has occured in the UK before. Remember, Chesterfield received an extremely heavy points deduction for financial irregularities, and there are similar regulations in place, with regards to clubs in administration. I suspect that if a club in this country did what Juve and co are alleged to have done, then their feet wouldn't touch the floor.

Level wise yes probably Millwall, and Brighton, but a lot of the lower league teams (Serie C1, and C2) have fairly big grounds as they've been up to Serie A for at least a season or two.

Napoli's ground was 80,000 in Serie C1 last season! , Foggia, Pisa, Venezia, Ancona, Perugia all in the Serie C have big stadia!

There are some big sides but by en large Serie C1 lookes much smaller than CC league 1 here.
