Not saying that it would be a bad move but there would be that worry too.
This^^^^ get him in on loan with an agreed fee for summer if hes successful

Talk on radio yesterday of city maybe being interested in him as let’s be honest Walker has pace and that’s it. AWB will be the best right back in the PL within 2 years imo.

Goals per minute he was exceptional at Chelsea, about a goal per 90 minutes. The question might be why he never got many chances and certainly starts but hes stuck the ball in the net regularly when on the pitch.

Didn't Chelsea have Diego Costa & only play with one striker? Could be why he never got much of a chance?

Fair enough. Obviously out of form at Valencia though and I remember in the world cup he missed a lot of good chances.
I'm not saying we shouldn't go for him but the thought of having two out of form strikers on big money is a it of a worry.

Again he has only started 4 games and played 510 minutes. Its much less game time than Ayew has had for us this season. When he had a run of starts at Dortmund he scored goals.

It really is a hard one to call, we know Batshuayi in his days in France was excellent but since he has struggled to show any form or consistency at either Chelsea or Valencia, but showed what can be at Dortmund thus leaving a question mark.
We know if he joined it wont be cheap probably around 20m plus, can/would Palace risk that? i am not sure we would especially after seeing how its turned out with ALL our strikers, the risk could be massive.
If we can get Troy Deeney for around 10m, and also with Tammy Abraham supposedly available around the 12m mark then a Double deal with these would make better sense.

Deeney is a 30 year old non scoring target man (besides penalties which to be fair he’s excellent at). Why on earth would you want him, we’ve already got Benteke.

He is far from being as bad as you suggest, all his career he has proved he can score goals this season possibly due to being in and out of the team could be a reason. His all action style with pace and movement is made for our team and would give WZ and AT much more freedom, but also offer an agressive target to aim at. As for Benteke, if he were able to get his form back we would all be happy but you only have to ask Roy why he did not see him as a regular, and 3 goals in 18 months gives you the answer? i see him being moved on in the summer so planning now is needed.

Pace? You can’t have watched him much in recent times, I’ve seen Sorloth turn quicker. He’s not bad, he’s just very mediocre, and has been for the past two or three seasons. He’s 30 and turns 31 before the end of the season, extremely optimistic to think he can replicate form from his younger years, as age had taken its toll on him. So all in all, upgrade on what we have? No. Resale value or any chance of improvement? No.

Doesn't sound like we'll be signing anyone this transfer window. According to some alleged ITK's on here.

And again, I'm not disputing that or the circumstances causing it but the fact remains he is currently out of form like the rest of our natural strikers.

I would probably still be pleased if we sign him but I'm just saying that his form would still be a slight concern for me.

Eh, I get what you’re saying but I don’t particularly value a transfer targets ‘poor’ form if it’s less than a season long. Benteke massively struggled for game time and goals under Klopp in the second half of his season at Liverpool. Arrived at Palace, and didn’t take long to bang them in.

Yep but Benteke had proven himself a success in the Premier League with Villa and scored goals for a few seasons, Batshuyai has not. So Batshuyai arguably presents more of a risk.

I included Benteke in ‘what we have.’ Sure he’s injured for now, but will probably be back by the time Deeney could be signed and settled in. Deeney is easily better than Sorloth though, and probably Wickham unless he massively exceeds my expectations (think he’s destined for the championship).

Good point. I think a point that has been made quite a few times is it wouldn't matter who played up front as they don't get the service. Although not entirely true I think the style of football we play doesn't lend itself to traditional strikers.

Said it before but we beat Leicester 5-0 with Townsend and Zaha as our forwards and now we've beaten Man City at their place. We do need at least one more attacking forward but I think another striker will be another waste of money.

From what I've read Neal Maupay from Brentford sounds exactly like the sort of player we need, but I would also welcome back Bolasie or Moses if we could get them.
