Didn't they they nearly sell to some Chinese a few year's back but the 200 million pricetag was too much considering the Investment also needed in the ground.

The cash for the new stand was transferred and deposited into a bank account ring fenced, but as director loans from the yanks and from our old UK directors it isn't magic money.

The Yanks have been a complete waste of time ..... And this all spells danger to my mind.

Blackstone owns part of my company, and I can confirm they are evil incarnate.

To me, this sounds like the two Americans were dabbling in the EPL, maybe speculating of getting a quick cash grab of TV money. Once the TV money fell through, they determined CPFC isn't likely to be a cash cow, so it's not worth their while to continue.

To be fair, the business model of the EPL is not attractive for investors outside of the top 6. You have 6 safe teams, 14 other teams in a crap shoot trying to escape 3 relegation spots every year. If you're one of those 14 teams, it's all risk and no reward.

Ironically, FFP has made it almost impossible for a team outside the big 6 to get an infusion of cash, and join the safe 6.

So the league has created almost a two tier top league, one with 6 teams, and one with 14 teams. No one in their right mind would risk their money on the 14 teams, when it's entirely possible they'd be in the Championship next year, and your money would be lost.

It's almost smarter to buy into a Championship team, get it to the top league, then cash out.

Basically, the business model of the EPL is very poor and should be fixed.

They could face a serious foreign exchange loss if they sell soon unless someone smart torpedoes Brexit. I can’t see why they would sell now.

Venkys are a salutary lesson as are so many owners of football clubs. I await comment from SP but going on past form heíll not be saying much for a while.

How? If new owners buy the Americans out it will be at an increased value of Steve Parish share way over what he has paid / put into the club.

An initial 4m plus a few million when in the championship, letís say £10m total will turn into tens of millions!

They most likely would buy him out too mean Steve would make a tidy profit!

SJ can laugh as much as he likes!

Maybe Apple, Amazon. alibaba or Facebook might be interested. Gets them a seat within the EPL tv bidding process!

One thing to consider is that there will be no big outlays for players while the team is up for sale. Likely we will sell AWB to subsidize any other moves to keep it net neutral.

Wonder if their decision to sell is linked to the building (non building) of the stand. Needed that to happen to increase our revenue and maybe they know it's not happening any time soon.

Nope! Just thought we would make money, lack of understanding of footy

Also costs have gone in massively in their time, wages, transfer fees, agents fees, all have doubled

They must think the world has gone mad!

I think that the financial position in the league has changed significantly since they got involved - caused by Leicester winning the league.

Around that time, the top sides were moaning that clubs like us could afford the likes of Cabaye and that the gap had narrowed between the big sides and the rest. After Leicester won the league I think they could see that there could be more where that came from.

I reckon they got together and agreed to start massively over paying for players - transfer fees and wages. It has little impact on them as they transfer most players between the elite European clubs, but they knew the knock on affect it would have on the rest of us. The cost of players inflated so much, that average players now cost £20m and want £100k a week. Competing with a top club for a player will now probably cost a club like Palace about half of its annual TV income.

They have quickly and effectively priced the rest of the league out of competing with them.

Although they will not be missed, you never quite know what you're getting next time. This time Parish will have no say as to who comes in and we could end up with a crazy Chinese fella or a shady sheik.

A World that they & their like created. Greedy baarsstards!

Let's face it, owning a football club is a vanity project but one that comes with a massive level of responsibility as it effects so many lives and their communities. Parish gets it & I wonder if he feels let down as I would imagine he was hoping for long term partners in South London-based Palace, as the team is known, and not ones looking for a quick buck.

Of course this article is stick thin on facts and none of us really knows what is happening in reality but obviously stirs the old fears & concerns that we have experienced too often as supporters of South London-based Palace, as the team is known.

I would say that the increase in TV revenues a couple of years ago had a bigger effect on player transfer & wages, but you have a good point that I hadn't considered.
