Hope so. Since he hasn't been making the bench recently I'd assume Roy will start Batshuyai ahead of him, but if he's on the bench and got 30 mins I'd be happy.

Not really. He has a year left of his contract. The only way he won't be here next season is if we pay his contract up in full.

Batshuayi to start, with Wickham on the bench. It won't weaken us.

Did Roy say anything about savvy Palace fans, despite @£2m? per league position spouting off that we have nothing to play for? Like, despite not being able to buy players due to financial constraints already for what seems like
, ever? Did he comment on the fact that we have 3rd and 4th choice CB's in the saddle and might need to back that up a bit with extra solidity ELSEWHERE to get a shot at maximising that cash? Just wondered.

So Benteke took a bang to the head with 15 minutes to go against Everton and hasn't trained all week.

If it was that serious I fail to understand why he wasn't substituted at the time.

Roy made very clear in the press conference (partly due to the line of questioning) it wasn't concussion but a cheek injury.

What is the latest with injuries?
"We have picked up one unfortunately. Christian Benteke took a nasty blow to the head ten to 15 minutes before the end of the game in an accidental collision with Michael Keane, so he is suffering from that blow. We will see if he will be alright for next week, but for Saturday, he will be ruled out."

Are you almost a victim of your own success, after the game against Everton?
“We didn’t pass the ball that well that day. It has not been a major fault in our games this season, but it was an aspect on Saturday and maybe we have to give Everton credit for not allowing us to do that and attack as well as we would like to do. We had to get what we could get. We worked hard and we got a 0-0 draw and it is not the outcome we would have dreamt of, but that's what we were able to get, and it was another point."

What is your plan for Cardiff, and does it make it harder knowing they have to get a result?
“I guess it does in some ways. There is no doubt they have been good at home this season and had some good results, and they have been unlucky at times. They have done very well as a club to still be in the fight with two games left.

"For them it is a very difficult situation. We go there knowing we are safe, whereas they have still got something really important to play for. We have to expect a very motivated team, a team that will give its all to cling to the last chances of staying in the league, and hoping they can win while Brighton don’t. We have a desire to win the game as well.

“Whether the game becomes easier or more difficult because the pressure delivers a good performance from them I don’t know, only the game will tell. We are motivated to give a good performance, and apart from Christian I have a fully fit squad, other than the ones we have out already.

If you do relegate them, I assume you would feel for Neil Warnock?
“I don’t believe that you do relegate them, it is something we are asked to subscribe to. I don't think the actual game that brings about the inevitable, the 37th game and that team or that manager, that relegates you.

“I don’t subscribe to the theory and I am pretty certain that we wouldn’t need to feel anything other than empathy which you feel for every manager if it hasn't gone their way, if we are fortunate enough to win the game and that they, unfortunately, do get relegated.

Will this be a chance to give others game time?
“Some things do go through my head, but I think football matches at this level are not there to give people a game or to give people a reward for good work in training. This is one of 38 matches in the league and are very important matches and it is all very well leaving a player out and putting someone else in to give him a game, but more often than not the player you take out wants to play as well.

“It is a balancing act, but you do think more and more about using the contingent that you have got.

How pleased are you with the performance this season?
“We were one of a large number of teams that weren't an enormous amount of points away from the relegation zone, but I am satisfied I think the players have done exceptionally well. It has, statistically been better than other seasons, but some games, particularly at home, could have easily gone better for us. Maybe that has been balanced out by some of the away victories where it has been backs against the wall to get the result, so things do even out.

“But the season has been good enough. We always want more. We think we are a bona fide Premier League team. We have had some players missing for considerable lengths of time, which puts a strain on the rest of the squad.

“But fortunately for me, the others have stepped up and shown what we can do, and we have got results which is good to keep us moving forward.

How is the planning going for next season and where you need to strengthen?
"It is not something you think about suddenly when the season comes to an end, but until we get the chance to sit down and discuss what could happen, where we could strengthen the squad, everything is in the balance.

"Hopefully we will get that meeting fairly soon and then we can spend the summer working to try and bring to pass the ideas we have in terms of strengthening.

"If you don’t strengthen, or introduce new faces, if you stand still, unfortunately in the Premier League that is tantamount to going backwards because teams are getting stronger and stronger.

"It is changing all the time and standing still can be tantamount to going backwards, and that is not what any of us want to do."

What is the injury with Benteke?
“He has damaged his cheekbone. He got a nasty blow to his cheekbone which has needed treatment and kept him out of training.

After what happened with Jan Vertonghen on Tuesday night, is it time to look at the concussion protocols again, and do they need to be reviewed?
"I listened to the interview with Mauricio [Pochettino] and he made it fairly clear, he said he was not putting any pressure for him to get back out there. The player himself may have been exerting pressure to get back out there, because players are brave and they may think they can continue, but I don't know if that's the case.

"As far as I am concerned, there are strict protocols in place and the responsibility is placed firmly in the doctor’s hands, because they are the ones who understand concussion and other medical conditions.

"I don't know if there is anything more that could be done.

"There will always be that factor in a big game; the player, the crowd, the importance of the game is probably going to err people into doing something which is not the very best thing they could do in terms of their medical condition, and there is a risk they may take a chance with it.

"But I don’t think the doctors are going to take chances, and they must have been satisfied for him to go back out there.

"Unfortunately, we saw that he wasn’t able to continue though.

Would you welcome a fourth substitute?
"I wouldn’t see anything wrong with that at all.

"The game is becoming much more than an 11-man game for 90 minutes, we have 25-man squads, so I think we are moving towards more substitutes anyway with the pace of the game.

"If something can be introduced and to prevent a hasty decision, I can’t imagine anyone saying that they don’t agree with that. Of course, it is up the authorities to decide whether that is a good plan or not."

Aaron Wan-Bissaka won the player of the season award, but did the players make the right choice? And do you worry about the interest in him?
“He has been very good, there is no doubt about that, and the fact is that we have no influence on their voting so of course they got it right.

"He has had a very good season, but he is not the only player. Quite a few players can say they have had a good season, and that they have played their part.

“When you have players who do well, they will be coveted by other clubs. It is a simple fact of life in football. We signed him to a long-term contract to be here in the long-term.

"He is doing well here, he knows he is appreciated and liked by us and the fans. I have no reason to fear that he won’t be here, because he seems happy to be here with us."

What do you make of Steve Parish’s comments on the new stand and where does that leave you with money to strengthen the squad?
“I am part of the club. It is not just me who wants to strengthen to keep the squad improving. Steve Parish and the American owners are not unaware of that. Everything has to be discussed. I don’t see it as a personal conflict.

“We all believe, Steve [Parish], Doug [Freedman], the American owners [David Blitzer and Joshua Harris] and I, we want to see Crystal Palace continue to do well and occasionally, investment needs to be made.

“They want investment in the stadium and the academy, which I think is the right thing to do, but it is up to them in how the money is to be proportioned.

“I am just trying to do the best I can do as manager of the football club to maintain our status.”

Did Roy mention that if Burnley lose tomorrow (tonight) they can't catch us in the League so the Everton point would ring up another @£2m???
