PMQ’s

Interesting one yesterday as Dominic Rabb and Diane Abbott stepped in. Both made slight conventional gaffes; Rabb interrupted Abbott before she’d asked a question and Abbott showed her prowess in arithmetic again by attempting to ask more than the six questions she’s allocated.

Most interesting part though was Ken Clarke at 19:50 and really outlined the civil war going on in the Tory party. Not my favourite politician, but the way Rabb referred to him as ‘chuntering’ was really disrespectful. If they dismiss their own like that then think how they view the rest...

He is a prick but he referred to the shadow foreign secretary as chuntering from a sedatory position. Not Clarke.

Why does he still sit with them? Not saying you are wrong as clearly he isn’t but I was surprised to see him sat with them and it was interesting to see who he was sat next to.

I didn’t know he did.

I would love it if he simply refused to move

I think all of the 21 who have not joined a different party have stayed on the Conservative benches.

You can only deduce from that stance (?) that they don’t consider themselves in opposition.

I wonder how many want to and will be let back in.

I think they said theyve stayed the same and it's the rest of the party that's moved so they're not changing seats

If Johnson can get a deal with the EU (which looks very unlikely) I think most of them would vote for it; and I think they would then be given the whip back.

Fantastic stuff from Jess Phillips just now. Before asking her question to Boris, she praised Bercow for how seriously he took his job over the years, and also said that she knows, as a father, he takes his parenting just as seriously. She then in the same breath with a hint of distaste said, ‘And now to the Prime Minister....’

Brilliant timing.

Doubly admirable given the rumour that one of the children is the result of one of Mrs Bercow's extramarital adventures.

Really? She really went for him last year saying he had to go.

Thought it was a bit crass really . Doubt she would want people making snide comments about her personal life . She mentioned her son today and not long ago she left her son outside doorstep of 10 Downing Street - don't think using a child to make political points is right .

Given the tories say they are the party of family values surely it’s ok to point out the hypocrisy of BJ, who has treated women like dirt and wouldn’t acknowledge his own child.

Maybe because the woman concerned doesn’t want herself (and any child?) to be subject to public scrutiny? Doesn’t want the tabloids in her garden and following her to school etc.

Whatever, I don’t think snide, cheap inferences about people’s children and their parenting is appropriate in Parliament.

Sorry but you will never get any messages about decency, morals or family values to be accepted by any Tories its just not in their DNA.

Very obviously you fail to understand that they are the party of working people.

Just accept that fact and try very hard not to laugh out loud.

I get the feeling that he met up with his offspring he'd be like Melchett and say “I’ve come to regard you as a sort of son. not a favourite son, obviously; more an illegitimate backstairs kind of sprog, who nobody really likes’
