Yeah, I'm still slightly in the denial stage. Especially as we've made the same mistake before. Left ourselves with one left back after the window closed and then saw Souare have a car accident about a week later.

Hard to understand how Parish/ the club doesn't learn lessons. That injury put us in all sorts of trouble and put our Premier League survival at risk until we paid big for Schlupp and PVA in the January.

We’ve actually let our squad down by not having cover and competition for Ward.

Wan-Bissaka left on 29th June, itís totally inept that we havenít found a replacement in the SIX weeks since then. And Iím not talking about a first choice right back either, if the feeling was Ward was easily good enough, we still need cover. I can handle everything else, no striker again for example, but this just smacks of total and utter ineptitude, especially when weíve only utilised one loan slot as well

Yep, spot on.

And I think we could have used two domestic loans.

Shambolic.

Couldn't agree more, even TFM as back-up or something would've been a bit better

There is no plausible excuse or rationale for the right back situation. I can make an excuse for not signing a striker, with a bit of effort, they are expensive and risky - but if you have any kind of scouting network and are ready to spend five or ten million pounds, or use a loan space, you could get a young right back with some experience to challenge Joel. It's negligent.

Ball played around him like pinball machine for Sheffield United's goal yesterday. Was caught dithering.

Ward wasn't at fault. The ball came in and the player could have gone either way, it was one of only 2 bits a quality play in the whole match, the other being Utd's chance fro McGoldrick.

Yep, I can accept funds being tight but we had 2 domestic loans plus more overseas we could use and at least some amount of cash available.

We either consciously decided to take a ridiculous risk in not bothering to replace our player of the year and going again with a strike force that has failed to score goals for 2 years - or we were inept at getting deals done and organising our business. We sold Wan-Bissaka wayyy before the window closed.

Perhaps we’re waiting for Joakim Maehle’s contract to expire.

Here’s hoping at least.

There are thousands of right backs and left backs we havenít got any cover or competition in those two spots. Maybe I should be a scout. There is a right back at Rennes in France who Iíd think would do a job for us Harmari Traore.

Martin Kelly will be our back up right back.
Joel Ward is a fine young man and professional but he is simply not good enough to play a season at right back in the premier league. Maybe a few years ago but not now. His passing accuracy is poor and invites pressure.
Kelly is a better centre back than full back.
We lucked onto AWB.
Poor state of affairs.

Andrea Conti's agent has revealed that the right-back turned down offers from six clubs including Crystal Palace to stay at Milan.

Conti was one of the players Milan brought in during their summer transfer splurge of 2017, but he has barely played due to two serious knee injuries.

Now, according to Mario Giuffredi, the 25-year-old could have replaced Aaron Wan Bissaka at Palace following his move to Manchester United.

"Over the summer, he [Conti] had offers from Parma, Werder Bremen, Crystal Palace, SPAL and other teams, at least five or six of them, but he insisted on staying at Milan," told Milan News.

Joel Ward is good enough for Crystal Palace. His only problem seems to be that he is picking up injuries.

Not surprising when he is now required to from being an occasional sub/fill in to full 90 minute starter in a demanding position in a team set up to defend. Not getting any younger and these injuries happen.

Shame as he has been fantastic this season. A RB in Jan is a must.
