Absolutely no chance. Everything was clicking in to place but Dougie had shown nothing before or since that suggests he could successfully manage a group of players over the course of a season.

Exactly , I think Holloway did a outstanding job given the Zaha transfer etc which would’ve affected him. The championship is a crazy league getting promoted is an achievement . Plus he relegated those ***** up the road within the calendar year .

We didn't win a single game in Freedman's great run by more than 1 goal. Exactly a year before, he took us from 4th and we finished 17th. Nothing about Freedman suggested he would have taken us up. His record since proves it.

Yes exactly this think the run of wins came after the Bristol City Car Park chat!

Think this was just a purple patch which enabled Dougie to get a higher paid job elsewhere. No guarantee he would of kept that run going.

He did recruit well but his overall management record is patchy to say the least and some of the football served up in the season before the good start in the following season was some of the dullest I have ever watched apart from Peter Taylor! So many draws and all about not getting beaten.

I don’t buy that. He would have reverted to type as the car park chart wore off. E we rode our luck in those 8 games as well.

To be fair, isn't that the exact philosophy that has been running through the club for the past decade and the same reason we've largely remained a premier league club since? You could argue the squad he assembled has shaped the club in a more profound way than he has ever been given credit for, whether he would've got us promoted is a different story though. But Dougie deserves an awful lot more credit for where we are now than many people are willing to give.

Yes you have to give him credit for the players that he recruited the likes of Murray, Jedinak, Bolasie, Delaney, Ramage etc and that is probably why he is doing his current role now as he was able to find decent value for money players who had good work ethic and attitude.

What I couldn't understand though when he was Manager middle to late season when there was no danger of relegation in the Championship he didn't go for wins to try to get in the Play Offs especially at home was frustrating.

Draws in the Premier League is different every point is like Gold Dust.

His star never shone brighter than after the season with us. Wanker.
