Well, actually I was wondering what became of Ian Wright...

Alex Nimely.
Remember thinking he was a cracking loan signing as he'd done well at Coventry but he hardly ever played. Not heard of him since.

Gary Williams
Played for us at left back for a short time in those dark days in the early 80s, and played a part in one of my most favourite Palace goals: a midweek game against Shrewsbury, the ball was played out from the centre of the pitch to Williams who'd moved down the left flank, he put over a beautiful first time cross, Kevin Mabbutt jumped to meet it and glanced a great header over the keeper into the far top corner of the goal. We won the game 2-1 which those of you that have supported us since then will know was a rare occurrence against one of our bogey teams. I don't remember any other single contribution from GW, but I do remember thinking that he was one of the few players at that time that was reasonably decent.

Trevor Dawkins
Bit part player at the time of our first ever Div 1 squad. Always remember him as classy, but maybe that's because I was young and impressionable then. Looking at his record now, 25 games in 5 seasons, tells a different story. Suggests he was about as popular with the management as Max is now |
