Saying he bought Palace partly as a vanity project, but also because having sold his phone business at 31 he thought it would bring out the hunger and desire from him that his phone business did.

Once in, realised how different football as a business is. For instance, mentioned how those you thought were "on your side" (managers/players) weren't necessarily so.

Said when he arrived that there was no contact between First Team, Reserves or Academy (Peter Nicholas called out), and that he thought this was bad ("I saw the academy as a straight-line to the first team") and changed that.

So far a couple of rather strange quotes :

Says when he first joined the academy, reserves and first team were not talking or cooperating with each other.

Sounds fairly cheerful to be honest.

Asked about Millwall, Chalrton Birmingham. "Supportive of Millwall when they went down and was good mates with Theo. Didn't like Gold & Sullivan because of Bruce etc. Didn't "bury" Dowie but he was lied to so took him to court and won 6-0"

Did you ever buy a player who couldn'f fit into a shirt? "Ruddock. Should have been a good example to younger players but wasn't".

Says AJ was great, couldn't speak highly enough of him as a person and player.

Warnock players will always give you blood and guts and hard work. He and Warnock got on really well, tried to bring him to Palace in 2003. Been to Queens Park Palace a couple of times. Gave lots of praise to Delia at Norwich.
