Dry Jan 2018 - anyone doing this?

Drank quite a lot over the last Christmas/NY period so gonna give the booze a swerve for a few weeks/month.

Never done this before and only drink really at weekends but it's more of the habit you get used to. Cracking open a few beers at the end of the week, Saturday with football, Sunday cooking roast. Crack open a bottle of wine to share with dinner etc..

Anyone else doing this?

Tried a 0% Heineken the other day and tasted quite nice so might buy a few of these although wouldn't generally have more than one, unlike what most would do with beer.

Dry gin, dry cider, dry white wine, dry martini.

Not too shabby options.

Yep, dry January for the third year in a row. Shifts the Christmas weight I've put on more than anything. I'm thinking about extending it into February as well as the amount of money saved on booze could probably get me a nice citybreak somewhere for half term break!

I've been thinking about the cost of rounds recently as well. It was alright a few years ago when you could buy a pint for a group of five for a tenner but now you're looking at nearer £25. If I buy the first and last round of the evening I've spunked £50 on five pints. I've vowed to be more careful about that this year, which is annoying as I'm a quicker drinker than most of my mates.

Why bother? If you don’t want to drink, which is a laudable aim by the way, why then drink something to pretend that you’re drinking when you aren’t?

Trying dry Jan, though probably won’t keep it going all month, so more of a slightly damp January
