Arsenal (away)
—————-—————Guaita———————————
Ward——-—-Tomkins———-Cahill—————Mitchell Townsend—Milivojevic——-McArthur————Eze ———————Zaha————Benteke——————— Does anyone think it will be different to that? Ayew and PVA (in midfield) probably the closest to being in contention to start.

Looks about right. I worry about the lack of pace in that back 4, with exception of Mitchell.

Unless we have 'Belief' and 'Ambition' in the side, it doesn't matter who is selected, although the side GF has picked with Kouyate instead of Cahill, looks a decent side.
Mind you if Benteke has regressed again into chasing shadows, we might be better off with Ayew in the side. Not quite sure of the point of signing Bats (especially as we ditched Gallagher to do so), as he can't get in the side, seems lost when he comes on as sub (obviously another player with the confidence drained out of him by Roy) I expect Arsenal to win comfortably, with everone declaring that Arteta has got them firing again. |

Guaita
Ward Kouayté Tomkins Mitchell McCarthy McArthur Reidewald Zaha Eze Ayew 4-3-2-1 with Zaha and Eze playing centrally behind Ayew. Attack at pace but on the floor, none of this Benteke hold up play.

Not sure Roy will play eze away against arsenal we will have very little of the ball and have to do a lot of defending and tracking back think he will go pretty defensive
Guaita Ward Tomkins kouyate Mitchell Townsend luka MacArthur jr pva Zaha Trying to get the two wide players up with Zaha on the break |

I'm not worried about that - they'll spend most of the game on the edge of our own penalty area

The resurgence of Both our next two tough opponents will mean it will be more a question of a sensible approach as in reality we would be very very fortunate to get anything from these games. It will be more a question of stiffling/suffocating them with a strong midfield and catching them on the break, it's not negative but a realistic approach for a club that struggles to score goals when facing 2 inform teams, and aim for getting maybe a result(draw) from one of those games.

Can see Roy looking to PVA to fill the Schlupp gap for these 2 difficult away games.
Would prefer a 4-4-1-1 with Eze behind Zaha but doubt Roy will go there.... —————-—————Guaita——————————— Ward——-—-Tomkins———-Kouyate———Mitchell Townsend—-Milivojevic——-McArthur————PVA ———————Zaha————Benteke———————

He certainly won’t play Eze in this game. I really fear for us in these next 2. Both Arsenal and City have hit form just as we play them.

Would be the first name on mine as well. But against Arsenal and City Roy won’t trust him defensively and he will be on the bench. If we played a better formation that accommodated Eze so we could build the team around him centrally he would start. Not in Roy’s pre-historic 4-4-2 snooze fest.

As an aside, why the heck is this game on a Thursday?

It was simply the way it was stated for solidity, but it can be shuffled around as Luka could be played on the right and Kouyate central with McCarthy and the versatile McArthur moved over to the left.

going to be interesting to see which striker partners Wilf up front, none of them have really been impressive this season. Maybe it will be Ayew as he played the best out of them last night

Everyone knows Arsenal’s defence is suspect at times. If we play with wilf as our only threat then I can’t see us getting much out of the game. |
