Let's not go back to 4-4-2.

Going by Roy's post match, Benteke will probably start.
I'd like to see McCarthy in myself but I suspect he's still being eased in rather than would be given a starting place.

Tough choice for who's up top, I'd go for Mateta personally now he's got a goal will help his confidence

Because we were so attacking and dominant in the 4-3-3?

Why not play both? They are different: Benteke wants the ball in the air, holds it up and flicks on. Mateta is more mobile and all about good movement and getting on the end of things, from what I have seen so far. Both big, but could definitely play together.

Play Mateta and Benteke up front in a 4-4-2 and Fulham will run through our midfield like Theresa May through a field of wheat

Same team.
Maybe McCarthy for Eze in midfield. Maybe Eze in the Townsend role. Depends on player fitness more than anything tactical. |

Think wilf will be back for this one. Maybe on the bench
Hunch, nothing more

What is wrong with you guys?
So so fickle when it comes to Benteke, he's finished at this level, just like Luka. He shouldn't be starting for us anymore. He has been awful for 3+ years, how much more evidence do you need?!

GK - Guaita
RB - Clyne (want some attacking intent) LB - Mitchell CB - Kouyate CB - Cahill CM - McCarthy (holding) CM - Luka (holding) CM - Jairo (box to box) RW - Ayew LW - Eze CF - Mateta or Benteke This way we have an outlet, left and right. CMs can swing wide to cover the gap on the left which Eze could leave.

Against Fulham I'm quite worried about the midfield. Would like to have McCarthy in for Luka if fit enough. Other than that it's not like we have a huge amount of options. |

------------- Guaita-----------
Ward -- Kouyate -- Cahill --- Mitchell Ayew ----McCarthy ----Luka ----- Townsend --------------- Eze------------- ------------- Mateta----------------- Get Townsend on the left to provide ammo into the box and protection for Mitchell which he doesn't get from Eze. Eze pushed far further forward as far away from the defence as possible and to support Mateta. Jairo and Luka does not work, Roy clearly favours Luka and it depends if Fulham press, if they do then Jairo Luka isn't going to work, especially if they have 5 across the midfield. |

--------------------Guaita--------------------
Ward-----Kouyate-----Cahill-----Mitchell --------Milivojević--------Reidewald------- Ayew---------Benteke---------Townsend -----------------Mateta---------------------- Subs: Butland, Clyne, Dann, Kelly, van Aanholt, McCarthy, Eze & Batshuyai plus one other if back fit. Hybrid 4-4-2 / 4-2-3-1 with Benteke playing target man to Mateta and plenty of crosses from Ayew and Townsend.
