Michael Olise (New 4 year deal 17/08/23)
Seems he has travelled with the squad to St George's Park. Perhaps he has a glute injury given he seems to be sitting on some sort of device.

Eze has a machine to engage his calf while his achilles tendon is resting. Very sensible

Eze looks like he has a TENS machine attached to his calf which will help keep the muscle strong while he's not able to use it. Looks like he may have some sort of blood flow restriction belt on his thigh too to increase the intensity. |

No sign of him in any of the training photos from today so it does appear he has some sort of injury.

The rumoured back injury that’s keeping him out for 3 months maybe ?

Good to see Eze out of his recovery boot. Still a long way to go I'm sure but suggests things are on track at least.

Maybe Olise was bought to keep Eze company now that Wickham has [reportedly] not been offered a new contract.

I wonder how he passed his medical?

You wouldn’t fail a medical because you have an injury that would keep you out for 2-3 months.

The Athletic wrote about this in January:
“You don’t pass or fail a medical,” says Gary Lewin, the former Arsenal, West Ham and England physiotherapist. “What you’ve got to think of a medical as is a risk assessment. So the board comes to you and says, ‘We’ve got a commodity that’s worth £60 million and we want to give him a four-year contract and pay him £10 million a year, so you’re looking at a £100 million investment. What risk are we taking?’ “We have signed players before knowing that they’ve had conditions. But the terms of the contract, and what the player means to the manager and the club, outweighed the complications that we brought up in the medical. It’s not a pass or fail. “Some clubs have a red, amber, green system. A red is, ‘Don’t touch him with a barge pole, this is a massive risk’ — the club still might do it. Amber is, ‘There’s a small risk here’ — that would then depend on the size of the contract and the fee. And green is, ‘They’re good to go’.” To view the link you have to Register or Login |

I have to say this does not reflect well...I guess there's a method behind their madness ?
