Marc Guehi
Now he’s signed I couldn’t see if he had his own thread on this group - Mods please merge if there is an older one than the past couple of weeks?
BBC website has an article on break out players for this season and includes Marc.. Marc Guehi is emblematic of a changing of the guard at Crystal Palace, from the mature, experienced squad under Roy Hodgson to a younger one with burgeoning promise led by Patrick Vieira. Regarded as one of the most promising centre-backs in the country, 21-year-old Guehi joined this summer from Chelsea for a fee believed to be about £18m and has not come to sit on the bench. After two impressive loan spells at Swansea in the Championship, his playing time would have been limited at Stamford Bridge, but at Palace his combination of physical strength and technical ability fits the bill perfectly. With a number of senior first-team figures having left the club, Guehi will line up alongside other young, promising recent recruits at Selhurst Park, including forward pair Jean-Philippe Mateta and Michael Olise. 1 slack pass aside, he was faultless yesterday.

The step up for him is still huge, but I think he will do it in time.

He needs a reliable regular centre-back partner
Good teams are based on a settled back four, last season the back four was never the same for more than two games. The back four was a lottery from the players fit enough to play Playing the same back four game after game gives assurance to the rest of the team. As Bill Shankly used to say at his press conferences all those years ago, it's an unchanged team same eleven as last season

Looks class. There was one part today when he bamboozled 3 Watford players with a lovely bit of skill.
Interested to see how he copes when we are on the back foot, but there is no doubting his class on the ball. |

Probably the best £18-20m we will ever spend. He'll be worth £50m minimum come the end of next summer and might eve go to the World Cup.
