Getting interesting as the lunatic left and lunatic right candidates are surging. Macron after a Ukrainian bounce is now falling, and Zemmour is done as are the Republicans.

I do fear this, as Le Pen is leading but the French polls are different to us and I am hoping in the next round it will be different

A Le Pen win will also bolster the Tories, embolden the far right and the likes of Farage and Banks, and potentially accelerate the march towards authoritarianism. Happy daze.

The consolation of a Le Pen win will be seeing her in government. She'll be shit at it.

Same thing will happen as usual, the left candidates are either too poor or too many so the final round is between a centralist who can't tie his shoelaces together and an onion with a swastika carved into it.

The young, urban, politically disengaged demo who probably forgot to vote in the first round will ensure the centralist scrapes by while making a big song and dance about how inconvenient/unfashionable it is for them to vote for him.

The reason she never does is she never breaks 40%. The fear in France has always been what happens if she looks like breaking 40% in a run off. Because when there’s a chance that can get people out of bed who wouldn’t otherwise bother voting.

Also you now have the far left and far right in with Macron in a two way. Where do the votes of third place go, because the Lunatic fringes have more in common with each other than they do with Macron’s lot
